1) Investigation - what are your goals for this CAS experience?
My goals for this CAS experience is to learn the benefits of volunteer work and giving
back to my local community. Also, filling out a proposal form and coming up with an idea
such as volunteering at the Humane Society demonstrates how to initiate and plan a
CAS experience (LO3).

2) Preparation briefly identify your plan of action and include an approximate

timeline.
I would ultimately like to begin working before the end of my second, IB1 semester, with
an approximate start date of May 1st 2017 continuing on the experience until graduation
from IB2 in May 2018.

3) Action - how will you accomplish your goals? Who will be involved?
The current plan to go into more depth than simply Humane Society Involvement is to
volunteer both at the Humane Society, cleaning kennels and food dishes, bathing dogs,
feeding both cats and dogs, etc. However, my work for the Humane Society will not stop
there. I will also be fostering some of the new born kittens / puppies at my own home in
order to take some of the stress off of the staff at the Humane Society and give them a
well-deserved break.
 4) Reflection - what were your expectations? What did you hope to gain from this
experience? What did you learn? What are your next steps? How are the Learner
Profile attributes incorporated?
So far, I have only been involved in the fostering areas of my suggested volunteer
work however the experience was very enjoyable and will definitely continue in the
near future. I learned not only that giving back to my community gives me a sense of
fulfilment but I learned real life skills like how to take care of such a delicate, living
organism. My next steps will involve doing work at the Humane Society and provide
them with more hands-on help as opposed to working from home.

5) Demonstration what evidence will you use to show you have completed your
goals?
Photos I feel as if pictures speak 1000 words so I will be using photos of my
volunteer experience in order to prove completion.
