Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
The lesson will begin with the teacher showing the students a copy of the Cherokee Syllabary. Then the
teacher will read a book on Sequoyah to the students. Afterwards, the class will discuss the importance of
Sequoyah and the syllabary. Next, the teacher will introduce the SRT activity. Every student will be given a
device. The teacher will walk through the process of taking a quiz on Socrative. The students will be told the
purpose of the SRT is to identify what the students know and what needs to be readdressed.

Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation

Student Response and Assessment Tools
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
I have provided a working sample of my questions in my Weebly.

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
I will have immediate feed back so that the students can see and learn the correct answers.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
Any questions that were particularly challenging to multiple students will be addressed either in a small group
pulled aside by the teacher or in whole group discussion depending on how many of the students struggled
with it. Furthermore, individuals who did poorly on the quiz will be given individualized instruction.
How will the data be used?
Data is recorded on an individual, class, and question level. The data will not be used for a grade; rather it will
be used to differentiate instruction. The aggregate, anonymous data will be shared with the class. Questions
with a significant number of incorrect answers will be addressed as a class. Individuals who answered a large
portion of the questions incorrectly will be given individualized instruction.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
From this activity I hope to learn how to create and utilize student response systems, such as Socrative, in an
effective and meaningful manner.
