MST Assessment Requirements:

Mentoring School Teachers (MSTs) will be required to:

Advise and assess student teachers on aspects of their teaching and professionalism.
Complete 3 formal teaching observations in which constructive criticism is expected. Both
negative and positive feedback is necessary for the students to grow and improve as
professionals.
Each formal written observation should be discussed with the student teacher directly after
the observation.
At the end of the placement MSTs will be required to meet with the Mentoring College
Teacher (MCT) in the completion of a final assessment for each student teacher.

SWC B Ed ECE Practicum 3b: MST Formal Observation Report


The Mentoring School Teacher (MST) is required to complete a minimum of 3 formal observation
reports using the form below. This report should be discussed with the student teacher after the
observation.

- good management of the children-noise - continue to build your knowledge of the


level rose and fell appropriately showing children
you are building a rapport with the children - more children could have been on task
and earning their respect. during the carpet session as the activity was
- Good use of a variety of resources during interesting- use the existing behaviour

- interactive whiteboard - continue to work on open ended activities
- songs - ensure full involvement of the children
- art experience especially when singing the songs- the
