Goals
Demonstrating knowledge of
student: Being able to know all
students preferred methods of
learning and implement ways to
adhere to the different methods
throughout lessons/assignments.
Learning activities: Being able
to know which activities have
gone successful in the past and
which activities need work in
order to be successful. Making
sure there are clear directions,
has the most amount of time for
students to be productive and
gives the teacher the ability to
assess students.
Response to misbehavior: Make
sure to address the issue and
make sure the student knows
what they did is wrong and will

What will I use to measure
progress toward this goal?
It should take one year to meet
this goal. I will rely on student
feedback and high scores in
order to measure my progress.
If students are scoring poorly I
will talk to them and ask if there
is anything I can do to help
them like implement more
activities that help them and
adhere to their style of learning.
This goal should take five years
to achieve because it heavily
relies on previous experience. I
will use my assessment tool for
that particular
assignment/activity in order to
know if the lesson was
successful or if there are ways
to improve the lesson for the
students.

During the first week of school I will have
students take a quiz that determines the
learning styles that are best suited for them.
I will then know what students learn which
way. I will then keep track of the different
learning styles that are needed by my
students and making sure that they are being
implemented in my different
lessons/activities. I will also pay close
attention to the work turned in by students
and their grades to make sure that I am
doing my best in regards to trying to gear
my lessons/activities towards their learning
needs.
I will keep records and notes of which
lessons went successful and can be used
again in the future as well as notes for
lessons that need improvement so for future
classes, they should not need tweaking. I
will pay close attention to students during
the activity/lesson as well as the assessment
used in order to properly assess if the lesson
was successful or not.

order to measure this goal, I
will have many closure
activities and activities that
measure if a student is making
the real life connections from
the content. This may include a
question asking how the content
is relevant today or making a
compare and contrast section
for past to present. Then from
the students answers I will be
able to assess if they are making
the correct connections.
I believe this goal will take five years total
because experience with students is needed.
I will be able to need to know my students
to understand what is relevant in their own
lives and how to make that applicable in the
classroom as well knowing what may or
may not work with students. I can achieve
this goal by keeping on top of what is going
on with students as well as making sure to
convey during every lesson why the
material is important to them. I will have a

filled out as well as say it aloud to them and
even have them tell me why? during or at
the end of a lesson.

Professional organizations in which I plan to participate in:

American Historical Association.

Organization of History Teachers.

Organization of American Historians.

I plan to participate in these organizations as both a teacher and as a historian. Participating in

these organizations will help with my lifelong learning in my content area as well as

improvement in my teaching practice. Also to pursue further my content knowledge I will pursue

a Masters Degree in History. I will also keep up with the news and further investigate historical

events and become an avid reader of historical novels and documents which I can implement in

my classroom. It is important as a history teacher to look for new material which the students

might find interesting. It is also important to keep up with current events and see if there is a way

to make a connection with the material currently being discussed in class and what is currently

going on in the world. This is a way to continuously improve my teaching practice because it is

important for students to see the relevance in the material they are learning. Other ways to

continuously improve my teaching practices is by reflecting after each lesson if it was successful

or not. If it did not go successful or as well as I would like it to go, I will make sure to make

improvements to the lesson plan for the future. I will also occasionally ask students for feedback

through a closure activity to grasp the students feelings towards my teaching practices and see if

there is ways that I can improve. Overall, as a teacher I would like to be involved in what is

going on in my students lives as well as what is going on in the community. This involves

sporting events and especially events that involve parents and students. I wish to reach out to

parents and have parents become more involved within the school community since parental

involvement lacks for high school students. I would like to contribute to the school community

by making parents become more involved and hopefully it will help students become more

successful.
