4. Teaching:
A. Reading the book: Dinothesaurus.
Introduce the book by asking students, Who likes dinosaurs?
Who likes poems? I love dinosaurs AND poems, so I love this book.
Its called DINOTHESAURUS Pause after silly words or phrases and
point out the silliness. Dinosaurs dont wear pajamas!

Read a few poems. Ask the students what they learned about each
dinosaur after each poem.

B. Extension activity: Now we get to make our own dinosaurs!

First you are going to color and decorate your dinosaur
anyway you want to. You can make spikes or no spikes, horns or no horns. Whatever you
want to do, you can do it. When you are done, you get to glue eyes on your dinosaur and
then cut it out and glue it onto a black construction paper. When that dinosaur is done, I
want you to find a partner and match the dinosaurs on the sheet together.
Walk around the room while children are working to ensure they are on track. When they are
done with the art projects, clean up, and then pass out the worksheet with the matching dinosaurs.
They may get into groups of two and work together to complete them. When those are done,
collect all their work.

5. Closure:
Ask students what their favorite dinosaur was.
Ask students if they would still love that dinosaur if it were alive today.
Ask students what kind of dinosaur they created with their art.
