2. Able to explain the differences in the characteristic of ionic and
covalent compounds.
3. Able to compare and contrast the characteristic of ionic and
covalent compounds.
4. Able to explain uses of finding characteristics information in
their daily life.
5. Able to state the uses of covalent compounds as solvent.

Duration : 80 minutes

Teaching aids : The ABM that was used:

1. Power point slides

2. Hands out(worksheet)
3. Apparatus for experiment
4. Mahjong paper and marker (for presentation)

Prerequisite : Students have previous knowledge about:

1. The stability of inert gas.

2. The conditions for the formation of chemical bonds, and state types
of chemical bonds.
3. Formation of ions, can illustrate electron arrangement of the ion
formed.
4. The meaning of ionic bond and covalent bond, its formation with
illustration.
5. Comparison between ionic and covalent bonding

2. The teacher asks them to menyumbang

Q : What are they doing ?

A : Holding hands together [ Teacher accept all
Q : If holding hands answers]

What can you observe?
A : This bond involves two
person. Each person
has to contribute one
hand to form the bond.
Then, teacher will explain:

Homework:

Assign the students to do hand outs which require them to do mind maps according to
the guidance and will be check in the next class.
Students also will be assign to do some problem solving to give some practice in
applying the concept and mastery the chapter. (Worksheet 2)

Reflection:

Teacher asks students to fill out Worksheet 1
