Taxonomy
Citation: Orbulina dOrbigny, 1839
Rank: genus
Type species: Orbulina universus
Taxonomic discussion: Orbulina universa, the type species of Orbulina, was originally described from Recent sands off Cuba in 1839, and since then, several authors have amended the
original description and diagnosis of the genus (Costa, 1856, see Ellis and Messina, 1940, et seq.; Brnnimann, 1951; Blow, 1956). [Kennett & Srinivasan 1983]

Catalog entries: Orbulina;

Short diagnosis: Spherical terminal chamber:

NB The short diagnoses are used in the tables of daughter-taxa to act as quick summaries of the differences between e.g. species of one genus. They have initially been copied from the diagnostic
characters/distinguishing features sections of the Eocene and Paleocene Atlases, they will be edited as the site is developed.
