Lesson Plan on Estimation of Parameters

(Confidence Interval Estimates)

I.Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
1. compute for the confidence interval estimate based on the appropriate
form of the estimator for the population mean;
CODE: M11/12SP - IIIh 1
2. solve problems involving confidence interval estimation of the population
mean;
CODE: M11/12SP IIIh 2
3. draw conclusion about the population mean based on its confidence
interval estimate.
CODE: M11/12SP IIIh 3

- Answer a diagnostic test.

B. Review:
- Definition of confidence interval estimates
- Recall the t- distribution
Interval Estimate called a confidence interval, is a range of
values that is used to estimate a parameter. This estimate may
or may not contain the parameter value.
Confidence level of an interval estimate of a parameter is the
probability that the interval estimate contains the parameter.
C. Lesson Proper:
1.Motivation perform activity 1 on determining weights
in kilogram.
2. Presentation:
- do activity 2 on meaning of 95% confidence. (p.155)
3. Discussion
- Use the figure on p.156 to illustrate further the
idea of the interval estimate.
- present the Rounding Rule for a Confidence Interval for
Mean.
In computing a confidence interval for a population mean by
using a raw data, round off to one more decimal place than the
number of decimal places in the original data.
In computing a confidence interval for a population mean by
using a sample mean and a standard deviation, round off to the
same number of decimal places as given for the mean.
