The committee proceedings commenced with the General Speakers List. The delegate of
Jordan speaks about the country being currently attacked while facing severely poor financial
conditions. The first motion was raised by the delegate of USA regarding the Causes of
Violent Extremism. USA, spoke about Radicalism and fundamental alienation in specific
countries giving way to a rise in alienated groups like Boko Haram to take revenge from the
government. Next, the delegate from Lebanon mentioned that extremism is not only
performed by political resentment but also by exploitation of personal privileges.
Syria defended its point by stating the involvement of extremist groups funded by western
countries seems more prominent. Later, Iraq rose to speak about the several steps the country
took in order to eradicate terrorism. Next, the delegate of Canada accused Pakistan on not
taking any action against the extremist groups. Not to mention, the blame on Russia and
China for being the silent supporters of extremist groups.
After a small confrontation between the delegates of USA and Pakistan, the committee
reverted back to the GSL. The next motion to be raised was the discussion of the terrorist
states. A crisis suddenly rose regarding the bombing at a mosque in Lebanon by an extremist
group known as Hezbollah. Afghanistan lends their aid to Lebanon. Israel suggests
dispatching UN security forces. Motion was raised to discuss the solutions on the crisis. USA
spoke about solving the problem at hand. The delegates of countries unanimously decide
upon helping Lebanon to recover. Post break, a new session commenced and a motion was
raised about the Financial and the Economic impacts on the extremist groups. The delegate of
Lebanon advice that the country should stricken the investigation. The delegate of USA and
UAE then came to an agreement that they could cut down the source of money the ISIS was
getting. A Crisis Update was the announced about 560 school girls from Pakistan being
abducted by Boko Haram and threated to be sold as slaves. UN reports the involvement of
Al-Quaida also. The highlight was when Pakistan indirectly refused to aid and take
responsibility for the abduction of the girls. Their statements were unclear upon ow did the
girls reach across the border without raising question and what would Pakistan do to rescue
them. This raised questions on their governments strength from many delegates. Pakistan
with the help of Iraq was then supposed to release a press statement. A new motion regarding
the Radicalism among youth was passed. Between the motion, a new crisis arose about ISIS
recruiting people from Iraq and India. Delegates then discussed the crisis where shocking
points were revealed.
