CLP Class of 2018

Leadership Is.
Frankie Adil-Garcia
Leadership is being you. Being true to yourself. Being real. Being you can empower others to be themselves.

Moira Andrews
Leadership is you, it is me. It is knowing when to stand up and when to take a step back. It is finding motivation
in even the smallest of hopes. It is trusting in others. It is listening to those you dont agree with. My goodness,
leadership is so much more than just you and me and that is pretty darn cool.

Sophie Anton
Leadership is completely life-giving and entirely exhausting because it means making the decisions that no one
else has the courage to make, working with the people no one else wants to hear from, and finding the
unwavering determination to create lasting positive changes that everyone will thrive from. Leadership is a
choice and it's worth choosing.

Katie Barger
Leadership is the indefinable, relatively immeasurable, unpredictable, precarious, trepidatious, and wearing
effort of giving oneself for the purpose of creating, with others, something greater. It requires, of us, the
capacity to give unconditional love toward a shared vision and the ability to guide others to do the same.

Jack Benazzo
Leadership is about the fine details that make up the bigger picture. It is about curiosity and life long learning. It
is about challenging yourself and others in ways that you could have never imagined. But most importantly,
leadership is about valuing people and putting their stories first.

Molly Bosch
Leadership is shamelessly dancing like a fool in public alongside someone who never thought they would dance
like a fool in public.

Patrick Brumbach
Leadership is a process of learning to hear God's call and gaining the courage to act on it.

Collin Calhoon
Leadership is caring for the whole person while simultaneously getting shit done.

Ronald Chan
Leadership is the ability to inspire passion and commitment from others to contribute to a greater vision.

Jordan Cotton
Leadership is gentle humility, light manifestations of the heart, few words that hold precious weight.

Kennedy Donnelly
Leadership is the responsibility of a group or an individual to guide others in the discovery of their best self and
highest capabilities.

Brittney Friend
Leadership is serving and empowering those around you with unconditional love (agape).

Zachary Frost
Leadership is knowing when you need to stop and ask for help, and leadership is finding the times when you can
be that help for others.

Rahale Getnet
Leadership is so hard to define, because it isnt a mold you conform to. It is you but less insecure. With a little
more clarity, and stronger accountability. It is us. But with a little more empathy. So that when the world
changes inevitable, we can say it was on purpose. And that is was good.

Katie Hammond
Leadership is like the rudder on a boat. It is a crucial part of a vessel, as it sets the course and directs the boat
across a bumpy sea. Yet, without the rest of the boat, the rudder would be useless. A leader should be calm and
steady when facing the storm, and have faith in his team to face it with him. A rudder is a part of a boat like a
leader is a part of a team.

Hunter Harrison
Leadership is being a shining light in dark times, when all other lights fail. Leadership is making difficult decisions
for the greater good, and putting others needs before ones own. Leadership is going the extra mile and giving
everything youve got so that others may discover their full potential. Simply put, leadership is fully investing in
the well-being of the people around you.

Anna Hauge
Leadership is walking with one another in the pursuit of the common good.

Annalise Hodges
Leadership is connecting with others in times of vulnerability. It is being honest with who we are and sharing
with others in times of pain and times of joy. Leadership is not an act of isolation, rather it is a process of
bringing people together.

Keisha Hood
Leadership is an expression of our deepest passion embedded within our vocation and core values.

Nathan Hooper
Leadership is jumping headfirst into dark waters and bringing up the sunken treasure in people by encouraging
and motivating them towards a common goal.

Gavin Imes
Leadership is what we make it. Leadership is walking alongside others in their darkness and in their light. It is
making a change in the world and making a change in ourselves. It is uncomfortable and empowering. It is
leading the pack and being the servant. Leadership is in all of us.
Douglas Kempthorne
Leadership is Love.

Thomas Lancaster
Leadership is actively listening, feeling deeply, speaking from the heart, and acting out of love.

Kate Lester
Leadership is recognizing and understanding the needs of someone else and walking with them on their journey
towards the solution. It is knowing the unique and complex nature of our own selves and how we can best use
our strengths to accompany others.

Austin Medina
Leadership is having the will, to pave a way, for the collective effort to create positive change.

Samuel Merritt
Leadership is operating from the core of who we are - living into and accepting the trueness of our being, both
our strengths and frailties, and perpetuating the weight of our passions to be with, better, and move others.
This is love in and of itself; a love directed inwardly towards our self and outwardly towards others. A love that
accepts, enables, acts, develops, holds, and envisions. Leadership is love carried out.

Claire Murphy
Leadership is being an active part of something bigger than yourself, it isn't about an individual, it is all about
love.

August Murphy-Beach
Leadership is inspiring others to do their best. It is being certain in your ideals, and
genuine in your beliefs. It is taking responsibility for your failures, and giving credit for
your successes. To act as a leader is to act with deliberation, to follow your instinct, and
to be a resource to those in need of guidance.

Justin OFarrell
Leadership is having self-assurance in your strengths, but more importantly it is having courage to admit your
human frailties.

Brandon Panfil
Leadership is something that we all practice every day. It may be something that we utilize through a position of
authority, or something we develop through the service of others. Regardless, we are all leading by example
every day through our actions, and our impact on those around us are invaluable.

Eric Pendergraft
Leadership is living well while living for others, and always looking ahead and above yourself.

Dakota Peterson
Leadership is understanding our interconnectedness. It is about meeting the needs of the present generation
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Davis Phillips
Leadership is the action of loving others and yourself, so all can grow into who they were created to be and
be motivated to change the world.

Taylor Ridenour
Leadership is coming alongside others in this messy experience of being human. It is celebrating when there is
joy, hope, and success and it is being willing to go into the hard, scary, and uncomfortable places so that others
may go there, too. Leadership is living and speaking into experiences that are both dark and light and utterly
human.

Morgan Schindele
Leadership is a delicate balance of getting your hands dirty while drinking a Dr. Pepper.

Katherine Thrasher
Leadership is knowing and serving the other in order to empower them to fulfill their full God-given potential. A
true leader has humility, empathy, integrity, perseverance, and a deep commitment to the truth in all things.
Through example, a leader will help others find joy and the face of God in all circumstances.

Grace Underdahl
Leadership is about authenticity and vulnerability. It is about engaging critically and listening thoughtfully with
an open heart and mind. It is empowering the people around you to be the best version of themselves. It is, at
its roots, you and me.

LaShantay Walls
Leadership is action from the heart.

Allison Wong
Leadership is a form of self-expression that is inherently dependent on others.

Jaden Zwick
Leadership is authentically developing others through mutual relationships in the pursuit of the common good
informed by a commitment to social justice.

Elly Zykan
Leadership is recognizing and cultivating the potential in others. It is the practice of accompanying those
around you on the journey of life and realizing the interconnectedness of humanity along the way.
