I. RATIONALE:

Students often find it easier to share a problem with a peer. Peer Facilitators
and trained students who work with other peers who are struggling. They are
available to help identify an issue, mediate a conflict, or to just provide a supportive
ear. Whether a student is struggling with academics, social-emotional issues, peer
conflicts or family concerns, our peers are eager to help. Peer Facilitators also work
with groups of students as determined by Advisory topics or School Counselor
suggestions.

This training/ workshop also include communication, leadership and group


process. On account of its merit, peer facilitators will be able learn and experience
through group process the actual management in peer facilitation. Along its path,
resourceful speakers/facilitators are available in order to achieve a brighter scope of
understanding on the role of peer facilitators to all students, and school.

II. OBJECTIVES

This training/workshop aims to equip peer counselors with the necessary skills in
peer facilitation, recognize and acquaint them with the different parts of an activity
or a workshop; familiarize the characteristics of an effective peer helper and discuss
issues in handling difficulties and disruption and how to solve problems that may
occur during counseling session.

Specifically Peer Facilitators shall:

a. Understand their role and responsibilities in school and students.


b. Develop their sense of leadership.
c. Gain knowledge on the basic facilitating skills.
d. Learn from the experience on handling peer facilitation through group
process

IV. CONCLUDING PART

The Peer Facilitator Club (PFC) was being instituted by the


Guidance and Counseling Office on November 11, 2011. Since
then, the focus of this program is on peer facilitation as an
effective approach for empowering students. With a view to
attaining the objectives of the Guidance and Counseling
Office, various activities are conducted for our students by
the unit.

This One-Day Basic Facilitating and Leadership Skills


Training/Workshop help them to govern well the organization.
Enable them to become productive, effective and resourceful.
What makes them good and effective is of how the scope
encompassed their mind and heart. Notably, this (training) is
a four- wall process of leadership aiming for a brighter
future that waits for them.

Lastly, this training and workshop provide clear


conceptualization of the roles and responsibilities of a peer
facilitator and value its significance in attaining the goals
of the Guidance and Counseling Office and the school
community. A mind filled with knowledge always drives at a
right direction and purpose.
