Lesson Plan Guide

Teacher Candidate: Courtney Rhodes Date: 12-3-17

Grade and Topic: Grade 1, Physical Education Length of Lesson: 90 minutes over two days

Mentor Teacher: Jennifer Townes School: University of Memphis IDT 3600

UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:

This lesson plan is a unit plan based on throwing and rolling a ball underhand.

LESSON OBJECTIVE:
The student will be given a research topic of how the proper way to roll and throw a ball underhand and
they will perform research on the computer for information and then each students will use powerpoint
to put together a list of all their findings.
I want the students to be creative in the way they present their findings.

STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
TN Physical Education MS.9.1a Throws underhand while facing target and using foot opposition.
MS.9.1b Rolls object underhand in a forward direction.
ISTE Students use digital tools to broaden their perspectives and enrich their learning by collaborating
with others and working effectively in teams locally and globally.
MATERIALS:
Materials Used
1. Computer
2. Internet
3. Powerpoint
4. Worksheet
5. Projector
Technology will be used to find information using the internet with a variety of different sources.
Powerpoint will be used to put all the information together to present using the projector.
BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:
The key concepts are effecting using technology for research and effecting presenting information to
their peers.
Academic language is not addressed in IDT 3600.
This will allow them to do research on the skills that they have already performed. This gives them
opportunity to give the information they already knew into words and present it.
I hope to continue to allow students to do research and do research on each skill that they learn so we
can see that they physically and verbally understand the skills.
Not each student learns as quickly or is as creative as others.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:

MODIFICATIONS:
If students are having a hard time finding information on their own, I may give them websites that have
the information on it. If a student is struggling in navigating the powerpoint, I may partner him with
someone who knows it well so they can see each others and he can learn from it.
Those students who are already excelled in this type of lesson, I may give them and extra list of
information I need them to find. Or maybe ask them to find or even create a video to add to their
presentation.
