Remember when songs sounded like the beginning of an action movie? Or

when the lyrics of songs were like poems with deep meaning? If you were born in the 90s
you wouldn't remember any of those, but if you ask your parents, they would tell you how
much music changed since then. Music in the 21st century is often characterized by complex
rhythms, percussiveness, and often accompanied by electric and synthetic sound. If analyzed
thoroughly, the elements of the music, including its tempo, rhythm, and even its lyrics
provides a glance of todays society, particularly the youth. Adults often complain about how
our music now is not music, but noise with lyrics mostly focusing on partying and sex.
However what they do not seem to consider is how some artists today are trying to change
that, by incorporating positive messages to their songs. For instance, Pink's song F*cking
Perfect seems like one of those songs parents would hate, considering the fact that the title
itself has a vulgar word in it, but if given a chance and if you listen to the whole song you
would know that it sends a positive message. A message that says "you are not alone" to
people who are misunderstood by the society and tend to hurt themselves just to feel
alright.The song tells them that they are perfect regardless of how people view them. Besides
it is humans nature to make mistakes and to learn from them. This song does not only apply
to teenagers but to adults as well. Adults sometimes have wounds from their childhood that
they carry till they are old. This song can bridge generations, if given the chance. If parents
were to only listen to the lyrics and its meaning they may find a partner in how to ingrain
their kids with confidence and respect towards fellow humans, as they continually guide their
childrens perspective in each and everyones personality. Not limit them with the foul
words, which is also part of respect, because it tells us to take the time to know a person
before passing judgment. In the future generations to come, we would like to practice mutual
respect by listening to their choice of music before saying that it is inappropriate for them.
Besides peoples tatse and preference had changed overtime, which may result into diversity
or even a formulation of new techniques to continually capture peoples endless wants.
