The students teacher name: Hanan Ahmed
Peer student name: Aamna Abdullah Ali
Date: 12 March 2017
Grade: 3
Section: 2
Lesson title: Cant and Can lesson

Strengths

At the beginning of the class, she asked them questions about if they have pets at their
home or if they went to the zoo.
Then, she starts memorizing some animal names.
After that, she starts memorizing some verbs like (running, walking, climbing, eating and
drinking).
Then, she starts telling a story about different animals, like; I saw a cow that was climbing
a tree? What do you think? Can the cow climb a big tree?
Then, she starts explaining the difference between can and cant by using the PPT, flash
cards that include verbs and animal names and the students should match it together.
The activities that she used were creative.
She walked around the class and checked their work.
She was very confident while teaching with students.
Suggestions

Use simple words while explaining the activity before giving them the materials.
Be flexible while teaching
Dont be too strict, this can affect negatively in the students interaction during the lesson.
I notice that 3 students were avoid answering, their reaction was like they are scared of
something be kind.

Teacher students comment

Formal Peer Observation (year 4 - semester 2)

The students teacher name: Hanan Ahmed
Peer student name: Aamna Abdullah Ali
Date: 18 September 2017
Grade: 1
Section: 1
Lesson title: The shape circle.

Strengths

Aamna is a very strong person that can manage grade 1 students in a very flexible way.
She used the strategy of putting stickers on the excellent student's faces. The students that
are excellent with Aamna those who try to answer, and following the rules. And I like this
strategy because its useful.
She is excellent at arriving the information for the students.
Great teaching skills.
I noticed that she is different than the last semester, I remember that she was strict, but
now she is trying to be more kind to the students.
As evidence, students were smiling, and no one was avoiding answering any question.
And this shows that they are comfortable.
I like when you relate your lesson to the life, like, asking them about something from the
nature that is a circle.
She is friendly.
She used a lot of supportive words to encourage the students while answering the
questions.

Suggestions

Please add specific comments about the student teachers observed strengths during this teaching

General Comments: The lesson was well orchestrated and well planned. The students appear to have
understood the function of the circulatory system as well the function of the blood vessels in the body.
Although the students appear to be able to recall the function of the circulatory system. I wonder about the
longevity of recalling the information. The inquiry aspect of the lesson was lacking. Students were told the
functions as opposed to helping them acquiring the knowledge.

Aim for Next lesson

Inquiry based learning

in different environments because of adaptations.

Observed Strengths: Suggestions for further development:

Well done Miss Amna, you did a good lesson. - Inquiry based learning may help in
developing the level of the lesson.

from magazines to make a poster showing - They are able to apply this strategy because

answers and ideas to share during the lesson.
3- Simple language to describe the lesson.
4- Moving around the groups and check the
students' work.
5- Let the students depend on themselves to
solve the questions.

Reflection (to be completed after discussion of Peer Review with colleague):

I did a peer observation for my colleague Aamna in 16, October, 2016. The lesson achieved the main goal
and the students learn.

At the begging, she told the students with clear voice her instructions and her classroom rules.
During the lesson, Amna moved around students to ensure all the students focus on her and the lesson. She
also used the book a lot to teach the students because her MST is using the books and teach from the book.
What I like is when she have students use pictures of animals cut from magazines to make a poster showing
different adaptations. This is because she is recycling the magazine and use it in her teaching.

Also, she evaluated students understanding by using oral questions and the book questions. If one student
doesn't know the answer, she tells the student the answer in a simple way.

After the observation, I gave her my feedback, and she like my feedback, and it encourages her to make a
better lesson next time.

A- Professionalism and Understanding

- Excellent interaction with the students.
- Present an excellent professional communication with your MST.

B - Planning for Learning

- Good lesson plan
- Add examples of the questions that youre going to use in the lesson.
- You need to plan more individual work for each students.

C - Implementing and Managing Learning

- You start with a good introduction of the lesson by presenting a problem calculating the
prices of the items.
- Improve the design of the power point slides. Use lines between the place values rather
than rectangles.
- Ask the students to write in big numbers if they are writing on the board.
- Use real thing such as ten cubes, for example, adding the hundreds this will help you in
borrowing in subtraction lessons.
- Always show what is expected from the activities before handing in the martials to the
students.
- You can make the group work more effectively by signing a question for each student
then checking their answers by other group.
D - Monitoring and Assessment of Learning.
- Avoid using negative comments on the students performance, such as is it the right
answer?. Use positive encouragement comments such as can you refine your answer?
Can you try again? Who can help?
- Always prepare an extra work for the students who finish earlier.
- Try to keep the evaluation tool privet as many of the students may feel shy to say that
they didnt understand the lesson.

General Comments:
- Use the correct currency in Arabic in your examples.
- Invest your time in the classroom to design fun and interactive activities rather than
marking the students work. You are in a position of learning and teaching, especially in
observations.
- Next lesson: you can design different corners for each group to go to then move on to
the next one.

Classroom management
Different activities
Asking good questions that lead to the
topic.
Positive reinforcement

Reflection (to be completed after discussion of Peer Review with colleagues:

I really enjoyed Amna lesson, her lesson was amazing. I really felt happy because Amna welcomed me in
her class and she was very nice.

After I observed her, I talked with Amna about her lesson. She was very happy because her lesson went
smoothly without any problems. I also felt proud bemuse she did a great job with grade five students.
When we discussed the feedback she listens to and accept all my comments so I felt happy and relax to say
my feedback. I think her classroom management was excellent. I only suggest to her that she needs to do
differentiation strategy next time.

I think this experience is valuable experience because we learn from each other by observing each other.
