Students have some prior knowledge of what a plant is. The teacher will introduce the lesson by showing students a picture of a plant. Then the teacher will ask students what do they see and how many different parts of a plant are there. Students will then go home over the weekend and they will first, listen to the podcast that gives them instructions on what their homework is. Then, students will look at the iMovie the teacher created on parts of the plant. Students will be assessed on the parts of the plant when they return to school. Parents/guardians can also monitor and help students with their homework as well to better prepare students for their assessment. Once students have been assessed and have learned about the parts of the plant and the plant cycle students will then create their own iMovie on the information they have learned throughout the unit. Students will have assistance from the teacher uploading pictures an/or videos, audio, etc. when creating their own iMovies. Summer 2017_SJB MultiMedia Tools Importance of technology: Using iMovie is important for students to have visuals of the parts of planta as well as the plant cycle. The project could not be complete since the goal is for students to create their own iMovie with the assistance of the teacher since this is for first grade. Students would not be able to address the technology standards of an empowered learner. Inspiration (optional): Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Student safety is very important and is a top priority for teachers. Students will be aware of internet safety sand procedures before beginning the lesson. Rules will also be posted in class for students to review. Student will only be able to use first names when recording audio files or publishing work.
