Sec.4: Enumerates students objectives for work
immersion:
o Appreciate the importance and application of the
principles and theories learned in school;
o Enhance their technical knowledge and skills;
o Enrich their skills in communications and human
relations; and
o Develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation
and respect for work.
Sec. 10: Specifies work immersion venues; prescribes

models of immersion.

Sec. 3-K enumerates two forms of child exploitation:
o sexual exploitation which refers to the abuse of a
position of vulnerability, differential power, or trust,
for sexual purposes.
o economic exploitation which refers to the use of the
child in work or other activities for the benefit of
others through production, distribution, or
consumption.
Sec. 3-L cites violence against children committed in
schools as:
o physical acts that inflict bodily or physical harm. It
includes assigning children to perform tasks which
are hazardous to their physical well-being;
o sexual acts that are sexual in nature such as rape,
harassment, lasciviousness, suggestive remarks,
physical sexual attacks, forced viewing of obscene
publications or indecent shows, forced indecent
sexual acts and or the creation or distribution of
such filmed materials, or the use of coercion,
inducements, gifts, and other favours for sexual
advances.
o psychological acts that cause mental or emotional
suffering of the child such as intimidation,
harassment, stalking, damage to property,
humiliation, deduction or threat of deduction from
grades as form of punishment, and repeated verbal
abuse.
Sec. 3-M defines bullyng as wilful aggressive behaviour
that is directed towards a particular victim who may be
out-numbered, younger, weak, with disability, less
confident, or other vulnerable. It also includes
cyberbullying as a punishable offense.
Sec 3-O prohibits persons in authority from using corporal
punishment which refers to a kind of punishment or
penalty imposed for an alleged or actual offense, which is
carried out or inflicted for the purpose of discipline,
training or control by a teacher, school administrator, an
adult, or any other child who has been given or has
assumed authority or responsibility for punishment or
discipline. It includes:

o Blows such as beating, kicking, hitting, slapping or
lashing with instruments such as a cane, a broom,
stick, whip, or belt.
o Striking of childs face or head (no contact zone)
o Pulling hair, shaking, or twisting joints, cutting or
piercing skin, dragging, pushing or throwing of a
child
o Forcing a child to perform physically painful or
damaging acts such as kneeling on stones, salt or
pebbles
o Deprivation of physical needs
o Deliberate exposure to fire, ice, water, smoke,
sunlight, rain, pepper, alcohol, or forcing the child to
swallow substances
o Tying up a child
o Confinement, imprisonment or deprivation of liberty
o Verbal abuse or assaults
o Forcing a child to wear a sign, undress or disrobe
o Permanent confiscation of personal property except
when those properties pose dangers himself or
others

III. Parental Consent
P A R E N TA L C O N S E N T
I/We hereby willingly and voluntarily give consent to the participation of my/our
son/daughter _____________________________________ in the Workplace
Immersion at whichever industry partner as a requirement for his/her graduation.
I have considered the benefits that my son or daughter will derive from his/her
participation in this activity provided that due care and precaution will be observed to
ensure the comfort and safety of my son/daughter and that DepED employees and
personnel and their industry partners may not be held responsible for any untoward
incident that may happen beyond their control.

IV. Common Duties and Responsibilities of Immersion
Partners
1. Assign a competent Immersion Coordinator from their
side to liaise with the school and supervise the students
without prejudice to the special parental authority of the
school, its administrators and teachers for the duration of
the work immersion program so as to ensure efficient
implementation of all stages of the program.
2. Lend its expertise by making available its resident
resource persons to provide training to the students.
3. Allow students to be deployed to the different
sections/departments/project sites of the immersion
venue.
4. Provide students with an orientation about their institution,
its line of business, and the work its employees do, and
expose them to the various stakeholders of the
community in which they operate for the students to get a
holistic understanding of its business.
5. Make its workplace and facilities available to students and
teachers, and shall similarly take all necessary action to
ensure the safety of students within their areas of
operation at all times.
6. Evaluate students performance in the immersion venue
by accomplishing provided evaluation tool.
7. Issue a Certificate of Completion to the student trainees
upon satisfactory compliance with all requirements of the
program.

V. RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR STUDENTS
A. WORK IMMERSION
1. COURTESY.
a. The first rule that guides student-immersionists is the rule
of courtesyof understanding his humble position as a
learner and thereby giving due RESPECT to all members
of the OFFICE or COMPANY as his/her superiors.
b. Courtesy also means putting the interests of others before
ones own and being careful not to inconvenience other
people in all things that s/he does or words that s/he says.
c. Specifically, courtesy is manifested in polite speech,
cordial greetings, cheerful voluntarism whenever possible,
proper channelling of concerns, and proper securing of
permission for leaves or absences.
2. PAPER-WORKS.
a. All paper works related to all stages of the immersion shall
be duly accomplished as part of the FINAL PORTFOLIO.
b. The Daily Activities Log (Form1) should be accomplished
and signed by the immersion supervisor daily. These
write-ups should be checked by the immersion supervisor
every week or as may be allowed by his/her convenience.
c. While activities in the immersion venue may be assigned
by group, the paper works remain to be individual tasks.
3. ATTENDANCE
a. Students should complete the 80-hour immersion within
the ten working days they are assigned in.
b. Absences are highly discouraged and may be availed of
only during grave circumstances which include sickness,
sickness/death of a loved one, or natural calamities.
c. Should a student fail to complete the required number of
hours within the specified time given him or her for
whatever reason, s/he is only given until the end of the
second batch to complete it, and with the expressed
permission of his/her parents and the immersion provider.
d. In the event that a student fails to complete the 80-hour
immersion with the conditions given above, s/he MUST
write a letter to the Principal explaining the circumstances
that led to such failure. His/her grade in Work Immersion
is compromised until this particular requirement is met.

e. Students are not allowed to off-set immersion hours with
overtimes.
f. Students should stay in the premises of the immersion
venue within the specified office hours of either 7:00AM-
4:00PM or 8:00AM-5:00PM. It is highly advised that they
bring packed lunch to avoid roaming during lunch break.
g. Daily Time Record (DTR) must be accomplished honestly
every day and must be attested by the immersion
supervisor. Other offices might require the use of DTR
through biometrics. (See DTR on page ________)
B. DEPORTMENT
1. PUNCTUALITY. Ideally, students must be at the
immersion venue 15 minutes before the time.
2. GROOMING.
a. Students should always be in COMPLETE SCHOOL
UNIFORM whenever in the immersion venue unless
the supervisor asks them to wear clothes more
appropriate for whatever task.
b. Male students should have the haircut prescribed by
the school before going to the immersion venue.
c. Male students are not allowed to wear ear pieces of
whatever sort. Meanwhile, females are discouraged
from using dangling ear rings.
d. School ID must be worn at all times within the premises
of the immersion venue.
3. CELLPHONES AND OTHER GADGETS. The
unnecessary use of smart phones and other such gadgets
during work immersion is strictly prohibited. Unnecessary
use includes but is not limited to the use of facebook,
twitter, and other such social media platforms, lengthy
SMS exchanges, long phone calls that are not of urgent
nature, and the like.
4. CHATTING/GOSSIPING. As much as possible, students
should not engage in chatting with their co-immersionists
or superiors during work hours especially if the topic is
personal or controversial in nature. Courtesy demands
that gossiping be avoided at all costs.
5. MAJOR OFFENSES. The commission of the following
offenses shall cause the student to be subjected to

disciplinary actions by both the immersion partners and
the Offices of the Guidance Counsellor and the Principal:
a. Stealing of material things
b. Stealing of immaterial things, e.g., piracy,
plagiarism, or unauthorized copying of files
c. Causing or joining fights or brawls
d. Bullying in all its forms
e. Tampering with documents such as the DTR
and signature of superiors
f. Unwarranted leaves from
venue/Cutting/AWOL
g. Insubordination and gross disrespect for
superiors
C. ISSUES
a. Immersion partners should not be compelled
to pay immersionists any sort of
remuneration as there exists no employer-
employee relationship between them.
b. Immersion partners are not compelled to
provide immersionists with lunch or other
such allowances for food.
c. Fare to immersion venues shall not be
covered by the school.
d. Any incident student deems abusive must be
reported to the immersion teacher, the
Principal and the Guidance Counsellor for
proper course of action.
