KV Nano Sensor Network Function

Sensor data can be imported to
a PLC without programming

Points
1. Sensor setting values and measurement values can be imported to a PLC
without communication programming.
2. Control of sensor setting information, from general-purpose sensors to
machine vision systems, can be consolidated by a PLC.
3. Connectable through a single LAN cable, which allows for simple wiring even
for multi-unit connection.

Setting parameter

The KV Nano Series EtherNet/IP function allows measurement data, error statuses, and parameter
setting information, etc. of EtherNet/IP compatible sensors to be imported to a PLC without
programming. This function also allows users to change, back up, and restore parameter setting
information easily.

ONE POINT
More than one unit can be connected using the Ethernet switch.

This document introduces a connection example of the KN Nano connector type PLC with three units
of the GT2 Series High-precision Contact Digital Sensors.

Preparation for Wiring

1. PLC: KV-NC32T x 1 unit, KV-NC1EP x 1 unit
2. Sensor: DL-EP1 x 1 unit
GT2-71N (main unit) x 1 unit, GT2-72N (expansion unit) x 2 units
GT2-H12 x 3 units
GT2-CH2M x 3 cables
3. LAN cable: OP-66483 or category 5e or higher STP cross cable x 1

An Ethernet switch is required. Use an Ethernet switch that is equipped with

than one DL-EP1 unit
Use a category 5e or higher STP straight cable for LAN connection.

KV STUDIO Settings
Specify the following items before configuring the Ethernet settings.
1. IP address assigned to the KV-NC1EP(Example: 192.168.0.10 (initial value))
2. IP address assigned to the DL-EP1 (Example: 192.168.0.1)

1. Start KV STUDIO (Ver. 7.1 or later) and select [KV-NC32] as a supported model to create a new
project. Select [Tool] > [Unit Editor] in the menu and add the KV-NC1EP unit by drugging and
dropping it from [Select unit(1)].

2. Assign the IP address in [Setup unit(2)] of the KV-NC1EP unit and click EtherNet/IP.

5
3. Add the DL-EP1 from [Unit list] and assign the IP address specified for the DL-EP1.

4. Add the GT2-71*/75* (main unit) from [Unit list] before adding two units of the GT2-72*/76*
(expansion unit) and then close the setting window.

ONE POINT
If wiring has successfully been completed and power is supplied, the connected
sensors can automatically be searched from [Search unit].

6
5. Select [View] > [Device comment edit window] in the KV STUDIO menu and register device
comments for the sensors connected to the DL-EP1.

6. Select [Monitor/Simulator] > [Transfer to PLC -> Monitor mode] in the menu and transfer the setting
information above to the PLC.

7
Monitor
Open the unit configuration in the workspace, right-click [1] GT2-71*/75*, and then select
[Sensor IO monitor] to monitor the GT2 sensors.

Click the icon in the toolbar of [Sensor IO monitor] to start the real time chart monitor.
Device values can be checked in the graph.

points in millisecond units.

8
Backup of Sensor Setting Values
The KV STUDIO transmission adapter settings function allows a setting value of each sensor
parameter to be backed up.

Select [Tool] > [EtherNet/IP] in the KV STUDIO menu.

Select [Communication] > [Transmission adapter settings] in the EtherNet/IP settings menu.
Select [Read from scan list] in [Transmission adapter settings start menu].

Select a sensor and parameter to be backed up.

Select [Communication] > [Read adapter] in the menu and read the parameter setting value.
Select [File] > [Save backup sensor settings file] / [Output CSV file] to save the setting value in
a dedicated file/CSV file.

9
Sensor Setting Value Change
Start the transmission adapter settings window in the same way as the backup procedures.
Select a sensor parameter to be changed and change its setting value.

Select [Communication] > [Write adapter] and write the changed setting value to the sensor.

Sensor Control on the VT3 Touch Panel

Connecting the VT3 touch panel allows for such operations as batch confirmation of sensor statuses and
saving, restoring, and changing of parameter setting information easily on the touch panel system mode
monitor screen or by using a switch to which the Call up system screen function has been assigned.

1. Sensor monitor
The connected sensors setting information, current values, and error details, etc. can be confirmed
together.

2. Sensor setting backup

Simply select a desired sensor and press the button to back up its settings.

3. Sensor setting restoration

Just select a saved backup file to write its settings to the sensor.
