Capitalism

Capitalism has become a dirty word in the world. Some countries see

capitalism as a wicked creature that demoralizes those who are already

poor, convincing them they will always be the pawns of the rich. Many of our

own countrymen have adopted that same mentality. Whether the view is

seen from across the ocean or through our own windows, the notion is

wrong.

Capitalism and a free market are what made this country the strong,

independent nation it once was. It’s a wonder if people even know what

these terms mean any longer.

Capitalism: an economic system characterized by private or

corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are

determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the

distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free

market.

Free Market: business governed by the laws of supply and demand,

not restrained by government interference, regulation or subsidy.

 Private or corporate ownership. Not restrained by government

interference. Really?

Is that what you see today in our American free trade capitalistic

society?

Not at all. Barack Obama and his Congress of stooges has boarded the

Concorde in an effort to put America on the fast track to socialism. But we

can’t only blame the current administration. The abuses of the free market

system have been going on for so long, adult Americans today can’t

remember an economy where the government wasn’t involved.

It’s a wonder this country survived this long without the federal

government interfering in the business of the people. How silly of us

“average” Americans to think we’re intelligent enough to manage our own

businesses? In the last year, the feds have managed to become bankers and

car dealers and health professionals. Maybe we should hand over all our

businesses to them and call it a day.

The United States of America was once the most productive country in

all the world. In 1905, we had become the richest nation in the world. And we

did that with only 5% of the world’s land area and 6% of the world’s

population. At that time we were producing over half of all commodities. How

did that happen? The government allowed the free market system to work as

it should.
 Where else can a farm boy build one of the largest automobile

companies in the world, or a kid with ADHD invent the light bulb? In the

United States. Why? Because capitalism gives individuals freedom to

succeed or fail. Like the light bulb inventor said, “I have not failed. I’ve just

found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Another quote by Thomas Edison is,

“Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”

At least that’s what I remember being told as a kid. In America, you

can be anything you want to be if you work hard enough. There doesn’t

seem to be the atmosphere of a hard work ethic in the United States any

longer. People everywhere are victims and they want their hand out.

You hurt my feelings. Gimme.

Your people oppressed mine. Gimme

My husband left me. Gimme.

I was abused. Gimme.

When did we, as a nation, lose our drive to be the best? When did we

begin tolerating mediocrity? When did we allow our federal government and

labor unions to dictate how much we should be paid? How hard we should

work? Who should be allowed to own small businesses? Who should

succeed? Who should fail? Tell us what we have to buy?

We’ve fallen asleep people! We’ve allowed ourselves to be bought out

by the federal government and their promises of giving us everything we

want without having to lift a little finger to get it. And now, we face them

taking it all from us in the name of caring for us.

If you’re overweight, don’t expect Obamacare to allow you to eat that

McDonald’s quarter pounder. If you’re pale, don’t expect to be able to go

tanning without a huge tax tacked on. If you’re a small business owner,

prepare to beg and plead with the federal government to allow you to keep

your business.

We have been coddled and cared for way too long. Our right to choose

is no longer. The end is coming and it is not in the form of a better life. You

think capitalism is bad. You should see what socialism does to a nation. Just

ask anyone from the ex-USSR. They’ll tell you, it ain’t no day in the park.

So quit your whining people. Find your backbone and stand up for your

real rights. Your Constitutional Rights. Learn what the government is

supposed to be doing. Get your butt off the couch, turn off American Idol and

Survivor and find out what it’s going to take for these United States of

America to survive this hostile take-over we are experiencing. There is no

more burying your head in the sand, because if you do, the next time you

come up for air, there will be a hefty tax attached.
