Lesson idea implementation: For my lesson, my first grade students will be working together as the teacher
to create a timeline connected to an historical figure in America that we have been discussing throughout the
week and month. When introducing this project I will start by asking the students, who can tell me who
Thomas Jefferson is? Can anyone tell me why he is so important to our history? We will have a short
discussion and come up with a list of important things that Thomas Jefferson did during the course of his life.
Once we are done with the list, the class will come together and put the facts we listed down in the order of
which they happened. Once they are completed with that, I will pull up Timeline on a computer and explain to
the students how to use it. Once the students understand what they will be doing I will let the students help
me put the timeline in order, along with adding descriptions, and pictures. After we have worked together to
make this Timeline we will go to the lab and the students will have the chance to choose an historical figure of
their own according to the standards and the ones we have been talking out. Once they have picked their
figure they will be given the time to look up facts about their person, and pull together enough facts to make
a Timeline like we created together earlier. Once they are done with their Timelines, they will post them on
Edmodo where not only I will be able to see them but the other classmates will as well.
