Student teachers name: Fatema Al Shehhi Grade Level: Year 1

Unit/Lesson: Find Ideas to Trap the Wolf /An introduction to giving instructions
Date: 22nd October, 2017
Grade: A-

o Good questioning that helped students to review the events of the book:
o Look at this picture, who is it? (the wolf) When did you know the wolf before? Look at the
wolf, what do you think about how the wolf looks (angry, happy). How do you feel about the
wolf? (scared) Do you remember what happened with the wolf in the end of the story?

o Think-pair-share where is the wolf?

o The wolf drawing stuck to the board was used to create a visual of all the places that the wolf
might be each place the students suggested were written on a post-it note and stuck to the
drawing. This was strengthened with pictures/visuals of some of these places such as a mall, a
school.
o
o Good questioning asking students how to catch the wolf and then these were turned into useful
and fun activities.

o These activities helped students to develop the concept of what instructions are and was a
very useful prelesson that introduced informally within the group activities the concepts of
first-then-next etc. phase of giving instructions.

o Adults in the room were well utilized as assistants in managing different groups.

o The activities were sufficiently differentiated.

o The concepts of first-then etc. were introduced by the candidate in the activity of making a
sandwich but had not been developed enough. However, during the final activity there was
attempt to do so as she walked the students through the activity of building a superhero

o Good classroom management and candidate used a variety of strategies.

o The summarizing plenary did review the concepts of the lesson (first, next, then, after that,
finally) with kinesthetic movements that helped students be able to remember the steps of
instructions.

Please remember to focus on the concepts that are the focus of the lesson during the
developmental stage of the lesson and to review it after you have finished teaching it but
before students are asked to practice it on their own.
Greater detail is needed in the plan so that a third party could use the plan and have
sufficient instructions to do so.

TheGeneral Comments:
Well done. Continue to focus on wrapping up your LOs at the end of the classroom, on your
classroom talk, and on giving sufficient details on your lesson plan.
