Introduction
Every person has a goal in his life whether it was a personal goal or a goal that he wants to
achieve in his work. For me as a student teacher I want to write about my teaching goals that I
want to achieve during my teaching practice.
Goal 1: develop relationship with students
My first goal is to develop my relationships with students in the classroom, I thought about this
specific goal because I think that the relationship between the teacher and students will help
both sides. It will help me as a teacher to know the students very well and I will know if they are
having problems in their house that will affect their learning during the lesson and also it will
make me know if the students understood what I gave them or no. In my opinion, I think that it
will take with me two weeks to achieve this goal because when students see that I am being
friendly with them then they will not be shy or dont talk, they will not take time to be
comfortable with the me. So being friendly is the best that every teacher has to do whenever
she enters a class. I will also need help from the MST to tell me more about each student and to
discuss with her too what I found and know about each student.
Goal 2: to increase my skills in giving instructions
In this specific goal, I will increase my skills while giving the students the instruction in class, this
will not make me face any problems in future because after achieving the goal I will be used to
give instructions perfectly and I will have the ability to explain it again to students who
struggled in some instructions. The strategies that will help me achieving this goal is changing
my voice tone when I tell the students the instruction, I will be more serious so that they focus
with me and understand the instructions well, in this strategy specifically raising my voice will
absolutely differ for students because they will know that this specific instruction is very
important and they also must take care about the other instructions. The other strategy is
clapping three times to stop working on activities given and listen to me, this will make me not
to raise my voice to them and the students may be disappointed that why the teacher is
shouting at us and it will definitely decrease their learning in class. For this goal I will take
around 1 week because I think that students will first have difficulties on the three claps
because it may be a new strategy to know. I will also need help from the MST when she gives
feedback on using the strategies and how it worked with me in class.
Goal 3: controlling the class when doing specific work or activity
Each teacher struggles sometimes in controlling the class when students are working specially
in groups. For me I saw that I want to improve my controlling specially on bad behaviours. A
strategy that I will use is to stand quietly near the table that table where students are behaving
bad or not working, this will make them be quiet and aware from me. The other strategy is to
make students with bad behaviour sit with a student who is good in class, this strategy will
make good students effect on the bad student and they will both listen and concentrate with
me. I think this will not take long with me only about one week because it doesnt take time if
students are aware from the teacher. The MST may help me by giving new strategies on how
this goal may be achieved.
