Sylvania Safeline Mercury Lamps-
designed to self-extinguish when glass

The glass envelope of a mercury
lamp is designed to filter out the
ultraviolet light generated by the arc
tube.
When an accioent or vanda breal's
the outer glass, there's a possibility
the arc tube in a conventional mer-
cury lamp will survive and the lamp
will continue to burn.
In the Safellne Vlercury Lamp, how-
ever, if the outer glass is shattered
or broken, the lamp is designed
to self-extinguish.
