Analyze Learners

- 30 students
- 15 boys/ 15 girls
- 3rd grade
- Ethnicity: Minorities
- Preferred learning style: visual and auditory learners

State Objectives
TEKS state objectives
(3rd grade mathematics)
(3) For students to become fluent in mathematics, students must develop a
robust sense of number. The National Research Council's report, "Adding It Up,"
defines procedural fluency as "skill in carrying out procedures flexibly, accurately,
efficiently, and appropriately." As students develop procedural fluency, they must
also realize that true problem solving may take time, effort, and perseverance.
Students in Grade 3 are expected to perform their work without the use of
calculators.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials
-My strategies for teaching students will involve the use of a smartboard, so that I
can interact with whatever pdf file, or program I am using in order to teach
students math. The use of interactive clickers when answering questions as a
group. Students will get to vote anonymously when answering questions as a
group through the use of clickers.
- Worksheets will also be given to them as well as interactive software on the
class computers when the day consist of rotational activities

Methods
- For the specifics of the technology, media, and materials that I will be
using are as follows: Khan academy as an online resource that can be
used as an alternative to explaining things to children. students can look at
if they want to learn something at home, or they realize that they do not
understand something.
- Before the beginning of class I will have everything written on the board
that I will use for the class. Meaning that I will write everything that will be
relevant to the lesson ten minutes before class starts. The same will be
said when students leave the room for a different activity such as PE or
lunch.
- The environment will be a at 22 degrees Celsius, which will be both not too
hot and not too cold for students. The classroom desks will be aligned and
organized beforehand depending on the activity for the day.
- I will go over what is expected of them from the beginning of the school
year, so that they know which rules they need to follow year round,
- While I am teaching, I will make sure that everyone is moving at the same
pace as I am. If I see that some students are ahead or behind, I will
problems on the board for those that are going at a steady pace, extra
problems for those who are moving faster than others, and help those,
individually, who are falling behind.

Require Learner Participation

While I am teaching my students, I will constantly ask them to help guide me through a
problem to involve the students in the lesson. I will also ask randomly what steps I
should do next. Students will also work in groups on some worksheets that will require
the team to put an equal amount of effort in order to complete the assignment.

Evaluate and Revise

At the end of every lesson, I will take the time to evaluate how effectively my lesson
went. How many lost students were there, how many times I had to cover things over,
how many mistakes I made, was my preparation enough to have a successful lesson. If
not, I will take an extra hour for careful planning and checking over my lesson plan to see
if it is enough. I will seek advice from other teachers with more experience, as well as
online resources to improve the quality of my teaching
