Aranya kanda chap 13: Sage agastya directing lord Ram to go to panchavati

Spiritual lesson : ( not only lord, His energies, associates have to be glorified and
worshipped ..that pleases lord so much ) Sage agastya glorifies lord Laxman and sita devi

Lesson: ( This is expected of jiva also) Sitadevi who is sukumari took great risk in
coming hre. Out of love for you. She is not like normal ladies ( characteristics of
ladies from time immemorial).

Sata hadravana lolatvam sastranam teekshanam tatha

Garuda anilayo saighrya manugacchanti yoshitah

Lesson ( cultural lesson): She is not like them. She is like arundhati category and
topmost in that category. Arundhati star is shown during marriage ceremony so that... (
research this importance.)

Lord Ram asks for place with water, good forests.

Agastya : eventhough wants them to stay with him but tells them to go to panchavati.

Tatobravi munisresta srutva ramasya ta dvacah

Dhyatva muhurtam dharmatma dheero dheerataram vacah

Agastya used his intelligence ( dhira )) to decide the place. You may stay at my place
but by asking me to decide place I understand what is in your mind.

Lesson ( relationship dialogues ) above statement.

Two predictive statements : u are capable to protect your wife and it is opportunity to
help sages.

Direction: see those trees liquor flower trees. Go north then u find banyan tree. There
u see highlands without trees. You cross that place there you will see panchavati full of
flower forests.

Aranya kanda chap 14: Meeting Jatayu

On the way they find jatayu on banyan tree. Rama doubting him to be demon asks details.
In sweet voice he answers that he is friend of dasarath maharaj. Lord Ram feels happy and
worships jatayu and asks him for lineage. Jatayuji explains lineage. And suggests that he
will help sitadevi incase lord Ram and Laxman is are out of protection of sitadevi.

Lord Ram proceded to panchavati along with that mighty bird and Lakshmana as though to
incinerate enemies, like fire that burns down grasshoppers.

Aranya Kanda Chapter 15 : Panchavati

Thus they reached panchavati which is full of serpents and wild creatures. Laxmana is so
happy that he is getting opportunity to serve Lord Ram and Sita alone.

Lord Ram asks laxman to find a place which is suitable to you, me ans sita.

Not too low or high


Samidhas, darbhas and pushpas nearby
Proper height and flat surface so that we can sit, rest .
Pleasant place with river water, flowers, so that sita devi is happy.
Place such that Laxmana can provide dharbhas and puja materials quickly and less
effort.

Find aplace like that and build.

Why the word sita samakshena...why laxmana used word paravan...varsha satam
sthithe...svayam mam vada

Jiva is parartha and paratantra. He does everything for lord and as per wishes of Lord.
During start of vanavas he told aham sarvam karishyami. That exemplifies parartha. Now
paravan asmi signifies paratantra nature. Eventhough I do , the wish and desire is yours.

By inspiration of lord and for His benefit we do this is atma jnana and Laxman has it.
By acting otherwise it is against nature of soul and Laxman does not want it like that.
He said whatever you both desire let me do as per that..there is no question of my
choice. This verse is very important for one who wants to know constitutional nature of
soul.

Lord Ram becomes very happy and holds hand of Lord Laxmana and speaks ...he decides palce
and instructs laxmana...

place not high or low,


with flowers trees nearby,
lake with lotuses,
wind with smell of lotuses,
Godavari is nearby,
this place fits description of agastya muni,
bank of Godavari has flowering plants,
many dears are moving in groups, peacocks making beautiful sounds,,
hills with various colored minerals gold,silver, copper etc.
sala, tala, tamala, kharjura, panasa, mamidi trees..
punnaga, asoka, tilaka, champaka,ketaka flowers,

chandan trees are near by.
Many birds and animals are moving around.

Laxmana builds kutir for Lord:

Laxmana flattened the surface. He raise height of floor base. Put bamboo pillars. Mud
walls. Put jammi branches crosswards and tied with twines of jute and on that spread kusa
grass as roof. And tied in away it does not fly away. He took bath in Godavari and
offered flowers, fruits for gods as part of griha pravesha. Showed it ram.

Prekshaniya anutammam.pushpa balim krutva, santim ca sa yatha vidhi,

Laxman showed to rama and ram felt very happy. He hold Laxman with two hands. What can I
give you as gift. I dont have anything. What ever I can give and whatever pleases you is
my embrace. I will give you that. And Lord Ram hugged Laxmanji.

Meanings of Bhavajnena, kritajnena, dharmajnena...

I have feeling that I lost my father. Now by your love you have filled that gap.You built
house as if Dasarath understands my needs and builds.

Putrena: Father left thinking how will Ram lives in forest. By taking care of me nicely
you are relievieng father of that misery.

Bhavajnena: You built separate room for me and sita. You understood that I dont want
sita always to be in public. Thus you knew my heart.

Kritajnena: Dasarath maharaj builts house for me as per my needs. One room for private,
one for meetings, one for rest etc., he builds as per astrological and vastu rules. By
building like that you reminding of that.

Dharmajnena: You built as per needs of me and sita devi. But you dont have anything for
you.

Till his death my father tried to fulfill my wishes. Now he is still alive as you.

Thus Lord Ram entered parnasala and lived like demigods live in svarga loka.

Aranya Kanda Chapter 16: Discussion between Lord Rama and Laxman on glories of Bharata:

Laxmanji describing hemanth season which is dearer to lord Ram. Beautiful description by
Govindaraja swami.

Agrayana puja

Laxmanji glorifying Bharat:

In this winter, bharath who is dharmatma, is crying in city. He is taking minimal food,
sleeping in cold floor. Every day in early morning he goes to sarayu to take bath. He
lived with luxuries. How is he taking bath in mornings? Bharath is sukumara. Like
Dasarath fondles with bharath, Lord Ram also fondles with bharath. He sleeps in soft
beds. He takes bath with hot water. How is he tolerating austerities now? Out od shyness
to face ppl, he wakes up early morning to take bath. Fire of Lord Ram sepearation along
with guilt of he being responsible- to survive he is taking bath in coldest waters. This
shows how much despondency bharath is in....so and so.

He is following you eventhough he is in city.

Then Laxmana speaks a verse and criticizes Kaikeyi..

Lord rama could not tolerate Laxman who is dharmatma speaking ill against kaikeyi
especially in her absence. [ HHRNSM also does not tolerate anyone criticizing devotees
story of Madhavendrapuri P]

Dont criticize kaikeyi. No mistake of hers. She is mother of glorious bharath who is
king of ikshvaku vamsa, who is ruling kingdom responsibly after Dasarath Maharaj left. We
may be facing some discomfort but we should not criticize mother of such glorious
bharath.

I rejected his proposal to return ayodhya, but When I remember him I am feeling to go
back and meet him. But that is childish to fogo vow of 14 years of vanvas. Let me do
mistake of returning but I feel to go meet him again.

Why to criticize her, speak about Bharath only.

In bharath absence I could not relish your and sitas association. When I will be
together with sita, you, bharath and satrugna who is vira. Then only I can get full
happiness.

Thus Rama, along with Laxmana and sita went to Godavari and took bath . offered respects
to demigods and sungod.

Nandi reminds of curse of Nandi on Ravana.

in samksepa ramayana - valmiki tells this. after installing vibhishan rama became
kritakutyudu. did what he supposed to do. he has not felt this after killing ravan..but
after installing vibhishana. not only that vijvara pramumodata. jvara reduced. pramodata.
till now not happy even after ravana's death. our previous acharyas found this reason.
other ppl say - i promised vibhishan ..but can i, can i go to lanka? can i get victory?
but if not what can i do?
ok i went if ravana surrenders? whom should i give? then how can i give lanka? if i dont
win?
I made him king..but position has to be given. generally ministers names are given. then
posts are assigned. is aid vibhishan as king and what is surity. this is rama's fever.
then after everything happened then he is relieved. this what soem say.

some others say..rama is sure that he reaches lanka, but he is doubtful if wins or not.
jayapajayam daivadheenam...before pattabhishekam he has one hope. if i dont win lanka,
let me make him king of ayodhya. is it do you think bharata gives you back after 14
years? what is ram's hope? any way we have our main palce parama padam...i will make him
king there...alwar song...all this place is urs only. no end for down end of karma
loka...but for spiritual world no upper limit. you just rule spiritual world..tell me
what should i do..i will assist you. this is rama's hope. still rama's doubt. he asked
lanka..but i am giving ayodhya. if he asks apple but you gives beans will he take. child
cry and says i want apple only. it is not fair. you know how children cry. i want
chacolate. you give rs 100. but he cries. he does not know taht he gets 100 chocolates.
so vibhishana dristi is only lanka ..he does noyt know ayodhay or spiritual world. will
he accept it or not? this is doubt in rama's mind. hence inner fever. hence no happiness.
when finally vibhishan got crown he felt happy..oh need not soemhow give him gudem of
guha..

some say ..this is not reason..our poorva acharyas say..Rama's brothers does not like to
take kingdom. rama also. dasarath says take kingdom forcibly. rama said no. he does not
like. nowadays ppl are different. previous they dont have kissa ka kurchi .
bharath came and gave it back. ram said be happy with whatever given to you.whatever
supposed to be given to us is given by father. he gave kingdom to you ( bhavanam) for me
vanam. you ar eking of naras i am king of vanaras. you be happy with what given to you.
dont occupy or exchange. he did not take. he fears kingdom so much.

sugreeva said please do my incornation by your hand. rama didnot enter. rama idoesnt want
to take something which does not belong to him.

bharath is also like that. all ppl told him take..he cried.

laxmana : ram said laxmana you get pattabhishekam . what is new pattabhishekam that you
do to me now specially?? what do you mean? you worked hard so much for 14 years. without

water, food..sleep. yuva rajya pattabhishekam. laxman said take care of your kingdom. i
take care of my kingdom. you dont enter my palce and i dont enter your place.
what is your rajyam laxman?
i have two kingdoms but you have only one..
laxman how you got two kingdoms?
Laxman said your rajyam is subjected to problems ...mandara, bharata, kaikeyi..but my two
kingdoms are safe.
what are they?
they are two padukas of you. they are very safe.
Ppl ask me why you wear padukas. why not shoes. we give you best shoes..?? chances of
them losing is much. who will take these..we are happy they ar happy and others dont have
much work...
rama, take care of your kingdom dont worry about me.
this is rama's brothers nature. they want to live simply. bharata, laxmana, satrugna. he
also like this.

Rama declared that vibhishana is my brother. vibhishana came with desire for kingdom. now
accepting as brother , vibhishana also feels no kingdom. this is worry of ram.

Ram is not worried of reaching lanka, nor doubt killing ravana, or surrender of ravan.no
need of giving ayodhaya or parampadam.
I declared that vibhishana is kingdom. he told suka also to inform ravana that lord ram
declared taht vibhishana is king. lanka is not in control.

he is already king. you are occupying his kingdom. you have to follow rules of
vibhishana. either surrender or i will attack lanka next day.

no need of doubting...rama can send brahmastar and say let the world be
arakshasa..everyone dies. like fire cylinder with carbondioxide..no fire. laxman tried
like taht when fighting with indrajit. rama said dont release he is laready coward. he is
fighting without being seen. now let us protect ourselves. why to kill all? there can be
good rakshasa also.

doubt is bcz he is my brother will he take it or not? if vibhishan says i will not accept
kingdom..then what can i do?

but when vibhishan sat on thrown then he becam happy? he heard my word eventhough he is
my brother...

SPG and his divine serviors we have come to holy place nasik. many wonderful pasttimes of
SPG enacted here. one of principla places in lila o sitaram. we are visiting holy places
of ram lila. Also lord nityananda p came and visited all the tirthas. LCM in south indian
tour came to jpuri, setubandha and then on western coast. he came to panchavati nasik,
and along river godavari he went to vidyanagar and back to puri. LCM has wonderful
kirtam, chanting dancing and turning everyone to ..we are following footsteps ..chanting
and dancing to mahamantra. Hare Krishna...in joyful mood let us go to those places and

pray for their mercy and praying for our personal purificationa nd purification of other
vaishnavas. because if devotees rae pure then service to lord then lord purify them to
purify world. we came for that here. so taht we pursue dream of our gurumaharaj and we
can give releif and spiritual joy to ppl of kali.
here in nasik gautama muni has ashram. this palce river godavari begins. came from higher
realms. begins journey flowing eastward to ocean. this place surya performed wonderful
pasttime. pasttimes of lord laxman, sita, lord ram took palce.
let us keep in forefront of our mind that we must be very much united in hearing,
chanting and prating for mercy of lord.

Sita rama and laxman performed pasttimes. sita devi collects flowers and make garlands. L
will collects vegetables,roots. ..this palce is full of rakshasa. pasttime of
soorpanakaha ..kara dushana..ram with supreme inconcivable strength destroyed all of
them. soorpanakha went to ravan and he bot blazed. she explained that lord ram did this
and how he killed kara dushana.ravana shocked..and she began to explain exquisite beauty
of sita. you are gretaest of lal kings. noone is qualifird to enjoy. upon hearing this
ravan overhelmed with lust. although he had beautiful mandodari and other heavenly
ladies, kingdom made of gold...no matter how much you have if u dont have one, ur mind
will be in anxiety. that one thing occupies your mind and you cannot enjoy all others
that you have. ex: hiranya kasipu. ravana was teh same. he conquered everywhere. even
demigods have to bow down. the most opulancet city everything made of gold..bcz he did
not sita, he could not find pleasure.
he divised pla. he has powerful mystique. he got benedictions from braham and siva. he is
learned in vedas. so he went to hermitage of marica. who is also rakshas. he is famous
bcz of tremondous power to bewilder ppl by taking various forms. You take form of
beautiful golden deer. atract attendtion of sita. ...plan...i am not living rakshas. now
i am sadhu. hermitage, forest, totaly trembling out of fear of ram..let me tell you story
...subahu, tathaka...ram shot an arrow that arrow killed subahu. he took an arrow and
shot at me...and i was thrown 800 miles. i never saw such strength. even yamataaj fears
ram. i am trembling. i warn you ravana. he is undefeatable. if u try to touch sita..u
will be destroed, take my word. ask me to do anything ..but not this.
ravana infuriated. nature of false ego blinds. he is powerful, wealthy..he could not take
advice. he indignantly told..how do u dare to tell that i will be defeated. either you or
i will kill you. marica thought if i die in hands of ram i go spiritual world. in few
mins we go plce where they are living.
one day rama nd sita in their place...inorder to satisfy sita devi..lord went to forest.
marica appearinga nd disappearing...in this way lord ram was taken farther and
farther..story of sita haran...
Ravana came as sadhu. bcz ravana knew with his piercing intelligence that sita's weekness
was her compassion. we should know that maya finds our weekest point and tempts us
accordingly. we should know that in due course maya will strike us at that attachment .
in mat world attachemnt is weekness...she crossed the rekha and came to place at this
murti...and ravan manifested this 10 headed form...
why do i say it is auspicious..when ravan stole sita, all demigods becme happy that it is
begnning of end of ravana. ravan stole illusory sita..none can touch godessof fortune.
sita devi took jewellary and thre it at monkeys...
let us pray t o sitadevi taht we can give our life to assisting pleasure of pasttimes
between her and lord. we will give our life so taht we can bring back jivas to loving
service of ram..and we are happy serving devottes of lord and destroy ravanas..by
spreading glories of Names of lord.
ofcourse ravan is originally jaya and vijay. they assumed forms to assist ram and sita.
story of dauji mandir in gokul. in ram lila laxman is always in anxiety. when they
returned after killing marica. sita lost. ram became angry. he started crying. but no
answer. they realized taht she must have been stolen. ram chastised laxman. laxman ...you
knew athta i cannot be in danger..why you left sita...laxman has severe
difiicultires...trembling, tearful..later ram apologized laxman...

demigods are above human species. demigods and raksahasa are supernaturally powerful.
within creation vayu has control over air, agbi has control over fire, surya..when we
read how they do amazing things, we should not be surprised and compare. not all time
they are pure. they are pious beings woth extreme pious karma..so they are gven facility.
but they still can behave independenytly. puranas expalin many of their activities for
several reasosn. puranas in ignorance, passion, goodness. each uplift other to next
level.
story of surya:
sungod has wife usha. she has difficuklt time to look at his effulgence. she came to earh
palnet and started living at hermitage of kanva muni. surya is very much anxious. he came
down to earth.a s he was approaching, she wnats to escape. she took form of female horse.
surya took form of male horse and caught her and performing lilas. 5 rishi kumars saw
this and laughing. ahh what is this? surya cursed them to be trees. they became 5 banyan
trees at this palce. since taht time this palkce is called pancavati. palce of 5 banyan
trees. since that time this place is very holy place. they took residence under these
trees.
sita guha - place in which they lived.

ksirasagar matahn pasttime...demons agree dto cooperate wit demigods.


lord came as kurma avatar - became pivot to rest mountain.
lord himself lifted mountain. kurma felt scratching of mountain nicely. he felt nice.
they could not keep mountain steady. lord vame as ajita and hold taht mountain.
then lord came in mode of i,p,s for v,demon,demigods.
1st came halahala..lord became kalakantha. this is decoartion that lord shiva reay to
risk for service of lord.
horse ucchraishava. airavata, surabhi, apsaras..then laxmidevi came. everyone wants
tomarry her. everyone proposing her. she walked fast of everyone and placed garland on
lord ajitha. wonderful wedding ceremony. ultimately goalis to get amrita. beautiful
dhanvantari..golden pot in tht nectar of immortality. ..mohini murti...
everyone wants propriety over god's property. this is nature of demons and dmonic
mentality. they unanimously decided..she will distribute. they gave to her to decide.
...she spoke bewildering words. she started pouring in mouths of demigods. demons anre
fearful to stop her. rahu came as demigod. mohini murti chopped ...there was scuffle and
nectar fell at 4 palces. every 12 years..thay get material and spiritual benefits.
prayaga, nasika,ujjain,haridwar.
it is considered very auspicous blessing.
this is called ram ghat. when lord living here, he takes bath in kund. this palce drop of
nectra fell. made of sacred river godavari.
gange ca yamune caiva...of 7 hly rivers godiavari is one.

LCM and LNP are Krishna balaram. previous to that they are Ram laxman. they appeared as
devotees to teach path how to advance in DS. by pleasing K, we can get K mercy. that is
only way we can get out of mat sufferings.
travelling to these sacred paces where lord performs pasttimes..when these yatra take
palce in associarion of devs..those who pray for self less seva..that assembly has
powerful aeffect to please k and attract his causeless mercy on us individually and
collectively.

after recent vvan yatra, devotees came to mumbai and feeling seperation. so why not have
another yatra. hardly 2 weeks later. it sounds quite crazy. however devotees are crazy
and does not care. last kartik we went mayapur 425 devs. this yatra scheduled months
before. how to take 425 devs..after that we went puri and ther 475 came. they speculated
that 500 will come. 2 weeks later we decided let us go to nasik. here 700 came. so
whatever possible or imposible before enthusism of vaishnavas?
sp went to west. for him to start international movemnet with thousands of books is
impossible. but enthusiasm attarcts mercy and ks have achintya sakti. what is impossible
for K? what K will not do for his devotees?
we came to pancavati. devotees take bath in sri rama kunda. very holy palce. river
godavari originates here. we will descibe story of descent of godavari. at rama kund it
shifts direction to southern direction. very sacred palce. at this place it is called
pancaha prayag. 5 rivers meet underground godavari aruna varuna sarasvati savithri. it is
also called rama gaya. at this palce lord striram performed last rites for dasarath. he
aslo did at citrakut also at this palce.same benefits we get by doing at rama kund also.
near rama kund we have beautiful littele temple. deity of godavari worshipped. both ganga
and godavari come from same source. beautiful pasttime. godavari sometimes called
avyaganga. godavari is before ganges. she is elder sister of rsis. also called gautama
rsi ganga. brought by gautam muni.
pray to lord ram, sita and laxman.
prying for mercy of lcm and np.pray that lord free us from egoistic selfish desires.
nasik is very very special place for lord ram. after that we go to kalaram mandir. this
is place where lord ram has kutir while living in nasik. we will have kirtana and then
series of narrations on pancavati. from there we go to other places. my request ..
it is place of great joy and also misery also for those whos peak about ram. let us have
very very blissful purifying experience at panchavati.

in vedic socirty everything based on child. it is main duty to elevate not only souls but
also those connected. forefathers. parents wants children to elevate their souldafter
they die. greatest way to do is by becoming devotees. all 22 generations become elevated.
lord srira, performed some of important pasttimes here at pancavati. i will summarize few
of them.....pasttime..
we are going to palce called sita gufa. when rakshasas attacked ram kept sita in this
palce. when khar dushana trisira came she was protected by laxman here.
panchavati - 5 banyan trees.
we also see seeta harana on our way to tapovan. tapovan - laxman did tapasya there.
another very important part of yatra is ...during this yatra if we are not speaking or
hearing katha we should always keep our moth engaged by chanting..
kalaram mandir: very palce wher lord ram, sita laxman stayed during entire stay in
pancavati. let us pray that these wonderful lila may forver be worshpeed in core of our
heart. to the degree of we are attached naes of lord to taht degree we are detached from
miseries of this world. lord of spiritual world came here and sleeping in ground in such
house, fully satisfied with his consort with purpose to free world of demonic forces taht
corrupt dharma.
laxman is the original spiritual master. incarnation of balaram, nitaynanda p who
arranges for lord's pastimes. through his represenattive smay ou r heart also be palce
where lord rama nd sita recide and laos kill asuras inside. srila prabhupad ki jai. ....

Kapaleshvar mahadev temple: it is expalined in padma purana by markandeya muni. lord


brahma born with 4 heads. in one kalpa he has 5 heads. with 4 vedas with 4 heads. with
5th head he spoke prajalpa. shiva cut that head. head struck to trident. he thought i
have to atone. he went to so many palces. it could not come. he knew as long as it is
there he knew he has sin. when he came ..kapala- head. braham kapala- brham head. he

decided to spend night there. he heard calf talikng with cow. calf explained that cowherd
men deva sahram is very demonic. tomorrow if he torches i will kill. cow said he is
brahman. calf said i know where to get rid of thsi sin. calf killed dev sharma. siva
watching . calf turned pich black. calf went to rama kund. it jumped in and came out pure
white. lord shiva also jumped and when he came out no braham head. lord vishnu came and
installed kapaleshavar linga and aksed tos aty here.
Hari hara ksetra: bcz temple of vishnu and kapaleshaavr temple. lord name is sundar
narayan.

just to left of us - laxman mandir. laxman performed tapasya. he did not eat anything but
air. he did not sleep. 24 hra on gaurd protecting them from dangers. he do anything to
simply give pleasure to them. at this temple he cut of nose and ears of surapanakha.
sp tells through this incident tells us that all women should be protected. however good
women may be she has to be protected. childhood by father , then husband then sons. women
must always have protection. otherwise in thsi world they are very likely to be exploited
by men with eveil inetntions.
ala so we learn from story the sweet ness of conjugal love of lor din . supreme
excellence of love in seperation. asking trres, pants,a nimals ,insects..vipralamba. this
is not to be mistaken as love berween ordianry mena nd women. this is sringara ras.
height peaks of ecstacies of exchange sof ram and sita. one who hears this beautiful
naartion their heart becoem purified naturally desire for pds arises. thats why we came
here. lets pray in these banks of holy river godavari taht these feelings of seperation
awaken in our herats. thsi ocmes only by mercy of k. when we serve sincerely offense less
chantinga nd hearing glories of lord an serving vaishnavas. sukadev g describing in

servitud eof spog. let us analyze what guru does in our lives by referring to beautiful
pasttime.
at kalaram amndir laxman built beautiful house with his own hands. sily guru with
beautiful instruction build house in our hearts. by following those sita ram lives in our
hearts.
when ram went after deer, bhakti is entrusted in care of ,ax,man. guru receives
instructions from lor din guru parampara. to protect us from maya. however if we seperate
ourselves like sita, then our bhakti will be stolen away by ravan. therefor vct dais one
should accept instructiona s our life and soul. those instructions protect us from
ravan..
laxman only to give pleasure to rama and sita. it is guru;s duty to keep us close to rama
nd sita. laxman through guru parampara speaking to us instructions. by following and
taking them to heart we ar protected. humbly serve devotees, preach and keep his names in
our heart throughloud chanting in congregation.
trayambakesvar, brahmagiri, kusa vrata lake. we offer obeisances to source of godavari.
we come to somesvar ant banks of ganges. we will have prasada and then beautiful katha.

welcoem to dandakaranya. it starts at khandva in madhyapradesh . near citrakoot. lord ram
stayed at citrakoot for 13 years. 14th year he came here. dandakaranya extends till
pampa, rishyamook parvat. name came by dandaka rakshas. later it became famous for
tapasya. previously it is very thick forest taht sun rays dont reach.

that palce is nasik. ppl coem in all ages to dod tapasya. sattar kms we have agastya muni
palce.he is so famous taht he drank ocean. agastya muni caem to feat arranged by
parvathi. she became fearful how she can feed. she is annpoorna still she became fearful
. she prayed to vishnu. vishnu said ok i will take care. he sat at last. when everyone
done but lord sat 2nd last. lord got up. generally senior gets up tehn junior gets up.
but if junior gets up then senior has to get even in between. then agastya got angry. i
have not started also. he said i will give fod later. when he lifted govardhan, all gopas
put sticks to help. everyoen felt by our capacity only govardhan lifted. lord tilted
parvat to show them. then they understood taht lord only ..at taht time water taht fell
down agastya muni drank.

agastya muni killed ivalav vatapi rakshas.


he went to meet agastya first. taht is culture to meet elders first. then jatayu also
reached that palce.
friendship between dasaratha nd jatayu: once dasarth maharaj kingdom affected by
sadesathi. it cntinued for 12 years. draughts. dasath went to fight with sani. sani
powerful and dasarath fell down from akash. jatayu hold him by one feather and brought
him downa nd nurtured hi, dasarath desired to go back and fight. jatayu helped him.
seeing determination of dasarath, sani became pleased and removed his influence out of
ayodhya. dasarath promised jatayu that in future he will give his first son to jatayu.

tapovan. at that place also godavari flows.
laxman's one man army services...how much ever diffculty it may be. jatayu, bibhishan,
bharath..all special . ayodhay ppl doubted till last days also.
lord ram did tarpana at this place. every day also they took bath here. this is
charanamrit also. same lord came as lcm. channa avatar came as bhakth. wherever lord
performed lilas, lcm went those places. he came here and took batha nd did kirtan. at
trayambakesvar also he did dance. he came to apnchavati, sita gufa also.
balaramji as nityananda P. in his pilgrimage, he took bath. so this palce is very
powerful. i will speak glories of this.

-> Kapalesvar story: brahamji 5th head doing prajalpa. ...brahmahatya pap goes. we do
aparadhas, papas at every step. by doing bath we are cleared off all these. lord siva
became kapalesvar. in that temple nandi. why? bcz nandi as cow took role of guru by
directing siva to ram kunda.
-> story 2: sundara narayana mandir: vrindadevi as tulsi . jalandhar nam ka rakhsas. -
tulsi saligram lila. that stone lord took bath in ram kund and he became beautiful
narayan. so one tusi devi, laxmi and evi and narayana.
-> ksira sagar pasttime...that time garudji took little amrit. she sat on tree near
kaliya ghat. main kumbha mela there. ujjain, ahmedabad, haridvar, nasik. differnet
tithis. simhastah kumbhamela here. sp also went in 1977 and took bathing. but we perform
snan for bhakti not for material desires. differnet ppl coem for different purposes. ye
yatha mam prapadyante...

Sita is kurupi, so thin does not suit your body. Bodily features are not properly

Aranya kanda chapter 18:

Rama understood that he has to speak in joking way and evade her. So he
spoke as follows...Lord ram directed her towards laxman.

She is of no good nature. So she turned towards laxman.

Reason is if lord ram says direct no, she will become disappointed and
fight. So he want to evade her and subtley convey message. But she is
too raw to understand that. She wants to some how enejoy a man. So she
went to laxman.

Laxmanji understood joking spirit of Ram. So he spoke...laxman speaks


opposite qualities of sita and soorpanakha to joke her. But she takes it
seriously.

Lessons:

She thought what laxman told is true. She thought ram will accept as she
is most beautiful. That is primary symptom of rakshasajati
atmabhimanam. Ahankaram. There is none greater than me..

TRANSLATION

The demoniac person thinks: "So much wealth do I have today, and I will
gain more according to my schemes. So much is mine now, and it will
increase in the future, more and more. He is my enemy, and I have killed
him, and my other enemies will also be killed. I am the lord of

everything. I am the enjoyer. I am perfect, powerful and happy. I am the
richest man, surrounded by aristocratic relatives. There is none so
powerful and happy as I am. I shall perform sacrifices, I shall give
some charity, and thus I shall rejoice." In this way, such persons are
deluded by ignorance.

This is asura bhavam. Those who are proud does not understand even if told. What to speak
undersatsn subtle joking way of telling. Lord ram knows that he cannot accept her
proposal but he wants to evade her smoothly. But she is sister of ravana. She does not
budge away from sense gratification even if it kills her..wrond desire is there but even
if this hurts themselves and country still they dont budge away. That is asura
pravritti. This can be seen in soorpanaka and ravan.

Her nails are like fan. Hence name soorpanakha. That fan is used to collect anything that
falls down and we want. So lust that does anything to collect whatever she wants that is
soorpanakha.

She turns to ram and says...insults sita and says I will kill her. Like comet that is
falling on rohini star. Sita is fearful. Ram did hunkar and stopped soorpanakha. And
angrily told laxman..we are not supposed to kill her. To avoid and subdue her make her
virupi.

Laxman cut her nose and ears.

Lesson:Ravana is ahankar. The first ray or first facet of ahankara is soorpanakha.

What is ahankaram: I am body and whatever jati, money, energy that belongs to body is
mine and no one can stop me, everything is mine..

Ahankara manifests as vasana. This is one of our main obstacle. These imprssions are
there from millions of lifetimes. They attached to mind and move always with mind.

Mind filled with ahankara is brother and vasanas are sister. Ravana is brother and
soorpanakha is sister. This vasanas is also called svabhava. First exposure is to
svabhavam and then ahankaram. So first soorpanakha came.

Vasanas are driving senses. Similarly representing that nose is cut. We hear and that
arises vasanas. Hence ears are cut.

Thus soorpanakha ran shouting beating her hands. She went to janasthan place of khara and
dushana.

Lesson:

The impressions are the mechanism or cause of remembrance of experiences from


previous lives, by which he shows attraction or repulsion to particular objects. This
is distinct from karma, the material response to his previous actions. The karma
creates situations for the jva by giving him a body and circumstances in life. The
jva then chooses to act, but greatly influenced by the impressions, rather than
scriptural knowledge. A person not influenced by those impressions or his karma but
by true knowledge is a dhra.

33. Even the man in knowledge of scriptpure acts according to his desires. All
men act according to their desires. What can instruction or threat of punishment
accomplish?
Connection :
The scriptures say that there is punishment for those who do not follow the
insructions of You, the Lord of all beings. Do they not have fear of You?

Even a person who knows the punishment stated in the scriptures (jnavn) acts
according to (sadam) his evil nature (svasy prakte)--his sinful impressions
which have been present since beginningless time. What then to speak of the
person who does not even know about the punishment? All people (bhtni) follow
(yanti) their sinful vsans (praktim), even though those desires cause of
destruction of the very goals they pursue--artha, dharma, kma and moka.
What is way to cut off strong impressions of previous lives? SB 11.26.26
For a person devoid of association of saintly persons, even if he has knowledege
of scripture, what can punishment accomplish? He will not be able destroy the
strong influence of those bad vsans. However, by saintly association, he
destroys the bad vsans even if they are very strong. The smtis say:
ato dusagam utsjya satsu sajjeta buddhimn
santa evsya chindanti mano-vyasagam uktibhi
An intelligent person should therefore reject all bad association and instead
take up the association of saintly devotees, whose words cut off the excessive
attachment of ones mind. SB 11.26.26

tayor na vaam gacchet tau hy asya paripanthinau ||34||
34. Attachment and repulsion are firmly fixed in each of the sense objects.
Therefore one should not come under control of attachment and repulsion. They are
the two obstacles.
Connection:
If the actions of men were under the control of their sinful natures, then the
positive and negative injunctions of scripture would be useless.
Elaborating verse:
Repetition of the word indriyasya (of the sense) indicates all the sensesthe
knowledge senses such as the ear, and its sense object sound, and the action
senses such as the voice and its sense object, words. Attraction and hatred (raga
dveau) pleasure or discomfort to the individual, are fixed firmly
(vyavasthitau), not in an unsettled way, in all these sense objects (indriyasya
arthe). Even if they are prescribed by scripture, such things as talking to
saintly persons, serving them or going to holy places, becomes the object of
hatred, seen as unfavorable or disagreeable to the individual. But even though
living entities have the tendency to follow these feelings of desire and hatred,
the person desiring the highest good should not fall under the control of desire
and hatred (tayoh), since (hi) they cause obstacles on his path (paripanthinau).
They are like thieves standing in front of (pari) the traveler on the road
(panthin).
Raga to other men wives:
What is stated is this. Impressions (vsan) which have operated since
beginningless time, give rise to such things as desire to speak to others wives,
even though it is forbidden in the scriptures. Accompanying the desire arises
knowledge of the positive features of doing so, and absence of knowledge of
anything negative in doing so. This desire makes men act.
Dvesa towards association of saints:
In a similar way, hatred may develop concerning speaking to saintly persons,
which is prescribed in the scriptures. This hatred manifests along with knowledge

that speaking to saintly persons is undesirable, and lack of knowledge anything
desirable in it. Thus he will avoid that situation.
What is hope? how +ve and ve injuctions help inspite of two stumbling blocks?
The scriptures, which direct one to associate with the saintly persons, will turn
one away from, and make one detest what is forbidden, even though it is
pleasurable to the mind, by making one understand the undesirable consequences of
the forbidden act. And they will also make one have attraction for and engage in
acts prescribed by scripture by making one understand their favorable results,
even though these may be unpleasant for the mind. Thus the positive and negative
injunctions of scripture are not useless.[78]
