METHOD STATEMENT FOR CONCRTE REPAIR ING WORKS PEDESTALS

1. Scope of Work :

This method statement to define the requirements for execution for repairing concrete for
honey combs and shrinkage cracks

2. Tools and equipment:

Chipping Machine , Groove cutting machine ,Hammer, Nails, Wire Brush, Trowel,
Nitobond AR ,Chicken mesh ,GP2, bond chemical agent, Head pan ,water.

3. Work Procedure

1) The concrete around damaged location to be chipped off for a minimum depth of 50mm. Care to be
taken to see that the chipping is continued in the damaged portion till a sound concrete surface is
reached.
2) The exposed concrete surface shall be cleaned to remove any traces of dust, loose concrete etc,
with help of wire brush.
3) Concrete shall be washed with water. Get the area as clean as possible.
4) Care should be taken to ensure that Nitobond AR is thoroughly mixed for 4-5 minutes with proper
tools.
5) Nitobond AR should be applied as soon as the mixing process has been completed. It should be
applied with shot bristle brush to the prepared surfaces
6) Apply first coat for a thickness of 20mm of GP2 mix on prepared area by using a wet Trowel.
7) Then rough out on the required area for better bonding and leave it for initial setting time.
8) Fix the chicken Mesh first layer for peripheral surface on the pedestal surface with nails .
9) Apply second coat for a thickness of 20mm of GP2 mix on prepared area by using a wet Trowel and
then again rough out required area and leave it for initial setting time.
10) Fix the chicken mesh second layer peripheral surface on the pedestal surface with nails .
11) Apply Remaining coat of required thickness with GP2 mix on prepared area by using a wet Trowel.
12) Surface will be smooth finished up to required area.
13) Continuously spray a little water on to dampen up to final set.
14) Allow it for Curing for 24 hours.

4. Health and Safety

General
All works shall comply with safety procedure or instruction as set in out in project Safety
Plan and Municipality rules and regulation.
Basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shall be worn by all staff or laborers.
Trained operator or banks man shall be engaged to control or operate heavy equipment
machine

5. Quality Requirements

Proper surface preparation

6. Environmental Requirements

Work area must be swept clean at end of shift to prevent liberation of dust.
Water Contamination due chemicals should be avoided.
Disposal of wastage in disposal area.
Soil contamination due to cement water should be avoided.
7. Personnel / Responsibility

Responsibilities of personnel are as follows:

Site Manager:

Responsible in the planning and implementation of the activity including the coordination
and assignment of field personnel involved in the operation.
Safety Supervisor:

Responsible in the safety procedures based on Safety Management System.

Field Engineer:

Responsible in overseeing project activities based on limits indicated on plans and

drawings and in compliance to both Quality and Safety Management Systems.
