Mission of IAAP

Mission Statement:

The closest thing to an official mission statement is this:

International Association of Administrative Professionals, otherwise known as IAAP, is a not-for-

profit professional association for administrative professionals. IAAP strives to ensure individuals working

in office and administrative professions have the opportunity to connect, learn, lead, and excel.

Core Values:

Their core values are listed as Integrity (honest, accountable behavior from its members), Transparency

(listening and responding to stakeholder feedback), Excellence (quality resources from its individuals

growth in their profession), and Collaboration (inclusive culture that appreciates equality and diversity

among peers).

Types of Membership

Professional

This is the most expensive, however, also the most comprehensive, offer from the IAAP. With a

comprehensive list of community, newsletters, webinars, discounts, recertification discount, and

opportunities for leadership, it is worth that due to put you ahead of the pack, just by that much.

Membership is $150 a year, which can be paid annually, quarterly, or semiannually.

e-Professional

This is for members who typically just for people who want to be part of an organization but are not

interested in the comprehensive list. This type of memberships is more expensive than a student, but

with less benefits at $125 a year.

Student

This is the membership with a little bit more than the e-Professional membership to offer, but also the

least to pay. It is just $25 a year, which, for a student, is worth the tradeoff to start in an organization

that will further his or her future. In addition, it includes the preparation resources for the CAP Exam; a

crucial resource for students with limited funds.

Benefits of Membership

There are many benefits from having a membership with IAAP, one of which is simply: Credibility. There

are many resume fluffers and having membership with a recognized association with a respected

standard is critical to interviews the higher you go.

IAAP Certification

The IAAP Certified Administrative Professional (otherwise known as CAP) is apparently THE leading

recognized professional certification in the administrative world. Professional distinction, as they refer

to it, is your competitive advantage. It tests your mastery of the administrative profession, including

technical and problem analyzation.

Continual Learning and Education

Through conferences, retreats, and resources such as Webinars, Mentor Programs and an online

community, IAAP facilitates continual learning and retraining opportunities for its members.
Additionally, IAAP approves resources and programs that are not necessarily their own, but programs

they deem useful and credible, which takes the guesswork out of paying for a program for its members.

Leadership Opportunities

The IAAP Leadership Academy prepares the individuals working in the profession to become strategic

business partners. It is a 16-week program, with an already-respected organization. An easy extra to

add to a resume.
