Overview
Topic and Overarching Goal (What is your overarching theme for this plan and what do you want the
children to learn?):
My goal for this activity is to teach the children a little about perspective. After the activity is over I want them to
have learned that even though we see the same object, for example a painting, everyone sees it differently.
I have chosen this activity and book because for one I think it is important to plant the seed early in life that
people do have different perspectives. If we water and harvest this seed it will help the children for the rest of
their lives. I have also noticed that the children are really good at talking about their feeling and expressing
themselves and I believe that this book will further that behavior.
Activity Description: What are you doing for your activity? Describe in very specific step-by-step detail, using
numbers or bullets. Include how you will get the experience started (materials, props, prep work, transitions)
and what you need to do at the end of your experience (clean-up, transitions, documentation, notations, next
learning steps). Write descriptions in detail with clear instructions for all steps:
After snack time I will play the song Apples and Bananas by Raffi so that the children will come to the large
group area. Then I will ask them to sit in their assigned shape to begin the story.

Discussions:
We will discuss how all the different animals see the same cat differently and that even though we see the same
thing we can all see it very differently. We will talk about how both animals and people can see something
completely different. I will read it to them from start to finish, and then ask them which picture shows what the
cat really looks like. Then I will tell them that actually all the pictures in this book are true. I will tell them that
that theres a good chance that the way they see the world isnt the same way the person next to them does.
Everyone, everywhere sees the world different from his or her neighbor.
I will dismiss them by their names that the teachers have written down. The children will look up and if they
recognise their name they can be dismissed, if they do not recognize their name I will give them a little hint, like
Whose name starts with the letter A? And look at the child.

learn body parts, how will you assess if this was accomplished?): ____ Photos with written documentation
