The Dangers of Hybrid Animals

Hybrid animals are unique. They are an individual plant or animal resulting from a cross

between parents of different genotypes. Most individuals in an outbreeding population are

hybrids. Human made hybrids sometimes people breed hybrids intentionally hoping to produce a

hybrid that has the best qualities of both parents animals. Mules have been deliberately bred

since ancient times because they are hardier and more sure-footed than horses.

The dangers of hybrid animals are the offsprings of parents from two distinct species of

subspecies. Many species of the genetic or behavioral differences, do not or cannot interbreed to

produce viable offspring. For an example a liger is an hybrid between a female tigers and a male

lion and it is often larger than either parent. Ligers are prone to health problems and birth

defects, and many do not survive into adulthood. Also difficult for the tiger to give birth to her

hybrid cubs; their large size may necessitate a c-section for the mother. Hybrid animals may also

exhibit unpredictable behavior.

The Adoration of Jenna Fox is one of the similar dangers. Her father uses biotechnology

to save her from a car accident. He uses bio gel this gel can reconstruct your body parts, he uses

this gel to reconstruct ten percent of Jenna brain and rebuild her body. This results to massive

memory loss she cant remember some things she can only remember parts of her life. This

shows that she is really not a human either she is left to figure out the truth about what happen.

For an example a poem she told in the book Pieces isnt that what all of life is anyway? Shards.

Bits. moments. Am O less because I have fewer, or do the few I have mean more? ( Pearson pg.

231). This poem represents how she feels inside she has to put pieces in her life to figure out the

truth about her. This is dangerous because if you keep designing or fixing people that were

suppose to be dead then they would turn out like Jenna Fox.

The Frankenstein story is part of a danger of consequences. When Victor recreate a

monster out of a dead corpse. He doesnt know till later on he would be a big problem. You cant

recreate somebody and leave them to learn things on there own. The monster had to figure the

world out for himself. He had to discover light, hungry, thirst and cold ( Miller pg. 85). The

monster had to discover society on his own, and he faces that human race is not as nice as it

seems (Miller pg. 85-87). This shows the dangerous of recreating because as the result of him

learning things on his own and not being treated right. He result in killing, and put other lives in

danger.

Hybrid animals, Biotechnology and Science such as recreating are all similar in some

ways. They all have dangerous consequences, and even have something to do with creating new

things.
