Nursery & Preschool Christmas Parade
Sunday, December 17th, 6:00pm
There will be a special Christmas Parade for all of our little ones birth
through age 4 prior to the Childrens Christmas program. We NEED to
borrow little wagons to decorate for this parade. If you can loan us a
wagon, please contact Pastor Linda and have the wagon here by
Saturday, December 16th. If you would like your child to be in the
parade, please sign-up in the nursery.
Our Preschoolers will be singing in the service on 17th at 6:00pm. They
are practicing during the Sunday School Hour.

End of the Year Contributions
It is almost the end of the calendar year. Contributions may be given
online through December 31st. Contributions may also be given in the
offering plate or church office through December 31st. Please be sure
to observe these dates so that your contributions will appear on the
2017 statements.
CHILDRENS ANNOUNCEMENTS:
During Advent, several of our services are family
oriented and we desire you to worship together as
a family. Please note the following:
There will be no Childrens Church during the
season of Advent.
The AM Nursery during will be available for
newborns through age 4.
There will be no Sunday Evening Nursery
during Advent.
December 24th, Christmas Eve Morning,
there will be one Worship Service at 10:00am.
There will be no Nursery workers provided,
but there will be there will be LIVE Streaming
of the service in the Fellowship Hall and the
Nursery Room.

Christmas Gift Bags for Inmates
We will be delivering over 200 small bags to each
male and female inmate in the Franklin County
Jail this year. The bag will consist of socks, soap
and a snack. This is just a small way of spreading
Gods love to many who have never experienced Him. If you would like
to make a donation toward this project, please mark your envelope or
check jail ministry and put in the offering plate. Our goal is $350 and
we have $235 received so far. Thank you!!

Did you know the history of our holiday traditions? Gifts are a
reminder of the gifts of the Magi to baby Jesus. (Matthew 2). The Yule
Log was a symbol by which all the men in the family would carry a log
large enough to burn for 12 days into the house. They were identifying
with Christ and His Cross. The fire was started with a fragment from
the previous years [this refers to the eternal existence of Christ before
His birth] log. Mistletoe was an ancient symbol from the Roman times.
It was under mistletoe that old enmities and broken friendships were
restored. So Christ was the One who took away the enmity and gave
us peace with God (Romans 5:1; Romans 8:1). Bells are associated
with ringing out news. Christ is the good news, the best news of
all. Christmas Eve is a time when we remember that Christ came in
the darkest night of Earth's need to be the Light of the
World. Shepherds who were watching lambs for use as sacrifices in
the Temple, were the first to hear the great news that the Lamb to end
all sacrifices had appeared. Christmas Pie is an old tradition that uses
a mince pie with various spices to remember the spices of the Magi.
For centuries it was made in a manger shape.
