Describing Objects
In this unit you are learning to listen to descriptions of various objects and their locations,
and to describe them.
Exercise 1
Look at the pictures of these clothes and identify each of them. Put the number between
brackets. Check your answers with the dictionary.
Exercise 3
Look at the pictures of the rooms and furniture, and identify each of them. Put the number
between brackets. Check your answers with the dictionary.
Exercise 5
Look at the pictures of different kinds of food below. Listen to the recording and find out
which food they talk about. Only four out of the six pictures will be used.

olives, green peppers and extra cheese

Exercise 7
Listen to the man and woman talking about the Japanese sushi in Exercise 5. Complete the
lines while listening to the description.
Exercise 8
Listen to some persons deciding where to go for dinner.
Exercise 10
Listen to the recording of some persons wanting to know the telephone numbers of certain
offices in some big cities in the world. Match the building or office in Column 2 with the city
where each is located in Column 1.
Exercise 11
Listen again to the persons wanting to know the telephone numbers of certain buildings or
offices in the cities in Exercise 10. Write down the telephone number of the offices in
Column 3.
Exercise 12
Listen to the persons telephoning some offices and asking for information about their office
hours. Listen again and fill in the opening and closing hours of each place.
Exercise 15
Listen again to the dialogue in Exercise 12, and state whether the following statements are
True (T), False (F), or Not Mentioned (N).
