From: iFixit Team: Espresso Fix
Date: 13 September 2017
Subject: iFixit Team Charter Prompt

Logo: ? . Team Name: Espresso Fix? . ENG360

I like Espresso Fix:) For the logo I love the last one haha its funny. 2nd pick would be the fifth
pic. And 3rd pick would be the sixth pic.
I think Espresso Fix is a good name for our team. For the logo, I like the 2nd pic, its adorable,
my second pick would be the 5th pic and 3rd pick is the 7th pic.
Elizabeth and Jan: Which logo would you guys prefer? And whats your opinion about our team
name?

Team Members:
Samantha Lai - Project Manager
Elizabeth Nguyen - Editing Manager
Alexis ? - Photography and Design Manager
Jan ? - Research Manager
Mission Statement:
The purpose of Team Express Fix, is to not only to fix the Ninja Cold Brew Coffee Machine. (Put
But also and then get rid of however) however to give others the opportunity to learn and fix it
for themselves with the instruction manual made by the hard work of our team. The manual will
be made available for the worldwide audience of the iFixit company. (Put Therefore instead of
hence), hence will be written in a simplistic step by step format with vocabulary and wording
for all to follow.
I like the description that tells our teams purpose, its simple and consistent. Just change how
you start your sentences.

Overall Performance Expectations for the Project and Team:

What is to be expected upon our team for the iFixit Project is full communication, interaction,
and hands-on effort amongst all. Each and every team member is expected to do (put their
instead of her?) her part and give help where it is needed. Although we are all managers in
certain areas, it does not limit us to help and give assistance to our fellow classmates.
Team will meet twice every week in the classroom; in addition once every other week
outside of class (subject to change depending on the week, if needed to add additional
days outside of the classroom)
Meetings are set to be in person or through text to discuss the progress of the teams
efforts.
Locations will be set the week of, by default expected to be on campus in the library at
the best available time for (should we put everyone instead of all girls)
Each teammate is given a full 24 hour time frame to respond to incoming texts and
emails without warning or strike.
In order to receive a warning or strike, behaviors such as missed meetings with no
notice, repeated missed responses to group memos, missed in class meetings without
notice.
It looks good, just need to fix the grammar errors that was bolded in red.

Resolving Conflict:
Conflict may potentially arise if teammates show little effort, little communication, and lack the
work efforts to play their part. If conflict arises within a team it is important to handle the problem
communicatively for the goal of it being resolved. Some excellent tips to resolving conflict and
avoiding tension were mentioned on an online site called MindTools. MindTools recommends
using the IBR approach known as the Interest-Based Relational approach to help resolve
arising conflict. To use the IBR approach effectively everyone involved should listen actively
and empathetically, have a good understanding of body language, be emotionally intelligent,
and understand how to employ different anger management techniques. The site also mentions
steps such as treating others with respect, seperate people from problem, understand
opposition's point of views, listen before talking, and lastly explore all options. (2)? Where is (1)?
Incorporating such tips into our group resolution plan can help with any potential future conflicts
from rising.
I'm sorry I just re read the prompt and saw it asked to consult Markel PS, I dont have the book I
don't know if it really needs it though what do you guys think?
I think you only need to focus on what actions teammates should do in resolving conflict by
stating important points from Markels PS and internet as evidence.

Firing Clause: Further Action Plan Policy is in the example. Should we title it that instead?
If a group member doesnt turn in the assignment before due date or misses a team meeting
(both in class or outside), and doesnt respond in 24 hours, these steps will take place in the
following:
1. Declare a first warning (reviewed by Professor)
2. Declare a second warning and discuss with the whole group about how to deal with the
situation (reviewed by Professor)
3. Declare a third warning and discuss with Dr. Bruce
4. Bring Dr. Bruce a firing request
Does reviewed by the professor have to happen? Does this mean she has to know every time
we give out warnings?
Yeah i think the team manager is supposed to document the date and incident. Is this firing
clause same as the communication and team meeting? Are we supposed to have both or jsut
one? I type the communication and team meeting just in case but we can delete it if we dont
need it
Yes, as long the team manager documented the incident and the date that happened.

Timeline to Obey by:

Assignment - (Due dates) - Team member accountable for submitting
Team member accountable for submitting Group Charter 9/19
Project Manager Submit Proposal Letter to Ifixit 9/25
Photo days will be ??? (should we put TBA?) of the week starting (October)
Email troubleshootings page to ifixit 10/6; submit to Professor Bruce 10/9
Email device page to iFixit 10/8; submit to Titanium 10/11
Email completed Guide Page to iFixit 10/22; submit to Titanium 10/25
Email completed Guide Pages to Ifixit 11/02
Looks good to me:)

Communication and Team Meetings:

Communication will be through cellular phones on text message. All team members will respond
within a 24 hour period to an announcement by any team member, (it should be its own
sentence) if a team member does not respond, it will be recorded by the Team Manager. Other
communication will be held on Google docs discussion forum or comments. All team meetings
will be held as needed outside of class. If one team member cannot come to a meeting they
must inform the group and/or team manager at least 24 hours before the meeting takes place
through text message. An absence will be recorded. If team member fails to follow these
guidelines then they will be held accountable and the team manager will talk to the group
member individually. If the team member fails to meet with the team manager then it will be
documented and further actions will happen, for example getting the instructor involved. (Just
make sure to double check for any errors and fix them)

Looks great to me. Question do you think we may need to add some boxes in case each topic is
worked on different days/ times by different people? What do you guys think?
I just followed the example she gave us and it didnt specifically have what everyone worked on
so idk if we need it?
I think adding additional boxes is needed if we need to include them. Also, double check on the
correction the due dates, check the class schedule. I notice it is different from Timeline to be
obey by section.

Research Requirement:
When working with other students in a group, there are helpful strategies in making each
persons collaboration effective and beneficial to the team. Each member within the group
should contribute at least an idea or opinion through email. The project manager plays a role in
compiles them anonymously and distributes them with the next meeting agenda (Wolfe 55). It
meant the project manager keeps track of each members ideas whether on email or through
texting. Also, the project manager has to ensure each members ideas is introduced or mention
through communication via email, texting or during team meetings. The team should establish
priorities in planning which member will do what to show they portray their role efficiently by
doing a part of the selection in the team project. Like how each member needs make the
decision in how to represent their project to the audience, their priority or whether
consciousness is more important than including all of the details (Wolfe 56). Each member has
to figure out ways to ensure the audience understand the main points of the project in an
effective approach.
Really great source!

When the collaboration is stressful, the conflict would happen. Team members would be
frustrated and angry with each other because of one's personality or transactions about the
project. (Markel 40) It means that if the project is to succeed, team member need not to be
critical but to be gentle.
Great source #2!
Good points in stating for source #2.
