Dear Dr. Bruce,

I am writing cover letter this in response to the final project because I want to demonstrate my
developmental understandings of the student learning outcomes (SLO) throughout this Fall semester in
my Monday and Wednesday 8:30 am 9:45 am English 360 Technical Writing Class. Through the
following assignments I have written throughout this semester, I feel my knowledge and writing skills
have grown tremendously. The documents that I chose to include are my Cover Letter, Peer Review of
Group Charter, Group Charter: Revised Final Version, and Progress Report. Every paragraph will be
linked to the following assignments and sections which represent as evidence to my stated claims.

The first assignment that I have presented is my cover letter, which satisfies the SLOs of (1)
Rhetorical Focus, (3) Persuasion, and (5) Academic Language and Design. It fulfills the SLO #1:
Rhetorical Focus and #3: Persuasion because, it was written formally as both an in-class and out-of-class
assignment with the purpose of summarizing my reason for including certain documents in my portfolio.
By doing this, I want to communicate and persuade to Dr. Bruce, who is my audience, that I have learned
to understand how to execute and certain improvements with my writing techniques while incorporating
all 6 SLOs throughout the semesters writing assignments.

The next assignment that I have presented is my Peer Review: Group Charter, which satisfies the
SLOs of (1) Rhetorical Focus, (2) Ethical Citation, (4) Organization, (5) Academic Language and Design,
and (6) Collaboration. This document satisfies the SLO #6: Collaboration because all the group members
share their thought with color coded comments. Using our assessment and constructive critiquing skills,
everyone shared their opinions on what we should and/or should not include in the document. Through
everyones efforts, we all helped each other improve our writing skills by sharing concrete advice for
each other.

Afterwards, the following assignment that I have presented is my Group Charter: Revised Final
Version, which satisfies the SLOs of (1) Rhetorical Focus, (2) Ethical Citation, (3) Persuasion, (4)
Organization, (5) Academic Language and Design, (6) Collaboration. The group charter assignment
represents my understanding of the SLO #4: Organization because I have organized the types of
assignments that need to be done on a timesheet with specific due dates. In addition, it also gives me a
view of the types of work I will be doing later on in the future, so that I can have proper time management
skills with my work. This also helps me and my group members communicate our important thoughts,
questions, comments, and/or concerns. Also, this document addresses the SLO #2: Ethical Citations
because our group cited our texted books in order to write about the research requirements section.

The final assignment that I have presented is my progress report, which completes the SLOs of
(1) Rhetorical Focus, (2) Ethical Citation, (4) Organization and Focus, and (5) Academic Language and
Design. This document meets the requirements for SLO #5: Academic Language and Design because of
its professionally formal language use of both passive and active voice to my audience, being Dr. Bruce.
Therefore, I effectively stated specific examples that related to recognizing and evaluating our teams
progress with completed, current, and remaining tasks for the iFixit Project.

I strongly believe that the following documents reflect the significantly improved writing skills
and the student learning outcomes that I have learned. I will value all that I have learned throughout this
class semester and carry this useful knowledge throughout the rest of my life even after graduating school
and into my career. I thank you for your time in reading this cover letter and I hope you feel the same
way about my evolved improvements when reviewing my portfolio.
