14. From each corner of a square of side 4 cm a quadrant of a circle of radius 1 cm is cut and also

portion of the square.

16. From a point on the ground, the angles of elevation of the bottom and the top of a

transmission tower fixed at the top of a 20 m high building are 45 and 60 respectively. Find

the height of the tower.

18. In the given figure, the boundary of shaded region consists of four semicircular arcs, two

smallest being equal. If diameter of the largest is 14 cm and that of the smallest is 3.5 cm.

Calculate the area of the shaded region.

19. From a point 30 m above a lake, the angle of elevation of a stationary helicopter is 45 and the

angle of depression of reflection of the helicopter in the lake is 60. Find the height of the

helicopter.

20. Use Euclids division lemma to show that the cube of any positive integer is of the form 9m,

9m + 1 or 9m + 8.
