Education and The World

Education has always been key for students as they dearly depend of it to help them

mature and progress in life. However throughout time education has been broken down and is

not as effective as it used to be. Tactics of teaching such as the Banking system has ruined our

education because it lacks communication and freedom of expression of the student. Expression

is key because without it the student loses a sense of creativity, which is why our education is

broken while the future seems dark. Communication is key also because students and teachers

need to build up that professional relationship so the student can feel more comfortable learning,

along with the teacher getting to know how the student can learn more effectively. The world we

live in today contradicts everything we need for education, the banking concept of education

being a huge example.

The banking concept of education is a very simple way of teaching. The teacher feeds us the

information in the way that is most emotionless and almost robotic like. Seems really simple

however it lacks the two key components that a student needs to develop, creativity and

communication. In the article The banking Concept of Education it states, (Paulo Freire, PG

244) The teacher talks about reality as if it were motionless, static, compartmentalized and

predictable. This quote truly explains the flaw in the banking concept, it shows how the teachers

teach, which is truly non effective for students. Not only does this promote an un effective way

of teaching, this can also flow on to the students lives as they get used to a less non

communicative way in the world.

The banking concept has set up students to fail in life since the start, the sad part being that it

creates an attraction between the student and the way they learn. It becomes an unhealthy habit

from the student for example, when the teacher asks a question the student will most likely raise

their hand to answer a question. This is a unhealthy habit that kills the freedom of expression

from the student, not letting them speak from what comes to the mind when they can, the sad

part being that the student most likely has no idea whats truly going on with their education and

how it really should be. The article The banking Concept of Education states, (Paulo Freire,

PG 248) Banking Education begins with a false understanding of men and women as objects, it

cannot promote the development of what Fromm calls biophily but instead promotes the opposite

necrophily. Necrophily is an abnormal attraction, and that is what students have developed over

the years after being taught in the banking concept for so long. Its the way theyre used to

learning and with the banking concept being put in place the future seems really dark.

The education we receive today is a step back from one generation to another. The system of

schools and the way they teach is very automated in the way that teachers are not creative in the

way they teach their students. In the article Why Schools Dont Educate by John Taylor Gatto

said,(John Taylor Gatto) Schools are intended to produce, through the application of formulas,

formulaic human beings whose behavior can be predicted and controlled. This quote basically

explains how simple and predictable we can be sadly. The Banking concept has restricted our

ability to be creative making our generation much more simple, with the way schools restrict

students from expression themselves to the same routine students must go through to get their

education.

The generation of students today cannot have a vast view on life sadly. In the way they live

in today. The habits they live through, just imagine sitting down almost every day for nearly 8

hours with many rules and regulations restricting the way they can express themselves. The

article Why Schools Dont Educate it said, (John Taylor Gatto) It is absurd and anti-life to be

part of a system that compels you to sit in confinement with only people of exactly the same age

and social class. The system effectively cuts you off from the immense diversity of life and the

synergy of variety. It cuts you off from your own past and future. This quote sums up the true

damages to students when they live the same routine in schools.

In conclusion, The Banking Concept of Education has damaged students in many aspects

such as their creativity, their view on life and the way they solve problems. However education

and life at one point was not like the way it is today. We must learn as human beings to cope

with the revolutionary change of technology and regulations to get to where we want to be with

the education we receive. Regulations need to be less strict so it can make space for creativity.

With creativity students can have a more positive view on their education and actually look

forward to it. The world needs to truly open their eyes and realize the real damage thats going

on.
