LITERATURE REVIEW PROPOSAL

Racism in Modern America is a hot topic found not just in our government, but in

households all across the country. There is a heated debate as to whether or not racism

continues to be an issue and what can be done to combat it. In this literature review the

following questions will be explored without bias, in order to come to the conclusion of

whether or not racism is as prevalent as its being made out to be.

How does the Government benefit from quietly supporting racism in America
today?
Are there underlying psychological reasons why someone might be prejudiced
against other races?
Can people agree on the definition of racism and does it truly still exist in
America today?
Does race play a role or encourage the use of excessive force in law
enforcement?

History shows that there may in fact be an economic reasoning behind the

Government itself keeping racism alive. History shows that division has a way of

keeping the focus off of the government and where money is being spent. The

question isnt whether the government benefits from keeping the races at each others

throats but how.

Prejudice as a mental state is a question many psychologists are trying to answer.

Where does racism come from, can someone be pre disposed mentally to look down

on someone of a different race?

When you look at the media today, so many vectors are divided, its almost

impossible to find a happy medium between the radical differences in opinion they

present. What is the true definition of racism, and does it truly still exist to the extent we

are being told it does?

LITERATURE REVIEW PROPOSAL

Police brutality cases have piped up all across the country in the past few years.

Videos of excessive use of force on people of color have made the headlines of every

news outlet possible. Some scream racism, others say necessity. Does race really play

a role or encourage the use of these tactics?
