Applying On Online Portal

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this work was to understand the factors influencing job seekers while applying for job through online recruitment vendors
channel. This will help to determine the companies, the preferred medium used by fresher among various categories and criteria so that company can
focus on those particular categories only which will help them become more profitable by overcoming any shortcomings highlighted in this project
report. This report also tends to study the job seekers perception on their intention to apply for any job by analyzing some factors which may/may
not affect the job seekers intention in applying for a particular job.

INTRODUCTION
The project was started with the online portals to find out the preferred medium for job seekers among various categories and segments &
what factors influence the perception to pursue the job by the candidate. A survey was conducted among the students of different colleges of Pune.
The respondents were the final semester students of different colleges of Pune who were the job applicants. Literature review was done to find out
the proper factors responsible for the perception to pursue the job. Result was obtained and analysis was done and possible reasons were found out.
Cross Tabulations & Regression Analysis are the SPSS tools used for detailed analysis of the result. Possible recommendations have been suggested
in aligned with the capability & functionality of the company.

The major players in this industry are:-

PROBLEM REVIEW
In order to be successful in the market, the organizations need to find out what the customers are looking for, their likings and needs or the
present trends. By focusing on those particular niches/segments, organizations can utilize their resources more effectively & efficiently which will
surely benefit the organization in terms of its financial aspect.
It is not possible for the companies to work out in all the directions moreover, due to the availability of large number of competitors and other
sources in the market, the companies must find out the preferred target segment which they should focus before moving on & targeting the other
customer segments.
Thus, this research includes designing a survey for investigating the preferred sources for job seekers to apply for jobs& the factors which influences
an individuals mind & his decision while to apply for a job through online portal.

PROBLEM FORMULATION

Primary objective:
1) To determine the factors which positively influences job seekers while applying for jobs though online recruitment vendors portal
2) To find the preferred medium of the job seekers for applying jobs

RESEARCH METHADOLOGY

Research Design
The research design is Exploratory&Descriptivein nature, as in this type of research design the primary objective is to provide insights into and an
understanding & comprehension of the problem situation confronting the researcher.

Research Methods

Data Source:The source of data for accomplishing the objective is primary source. Primary source consists of the students in final
semesters of their study or just graduated recently.
Sampling Method: Random Sampling
Sampling Unit:Applicants of jobswho are inFinal Semester or just graduated
Sample Size(N): 197
Response Rate = No. of responses to the survey/ No. of questionnaires sent
o = 197 /250
o = 78.8%
Data Collection: This was done with the help of questionnaires which were prepared using Google documents in the shape of a form and
were then mailed to the target respondents.

Limitations

1) Data shared by the respondents may not be 100% accurate since the questionnaire was filled through mail.
2) Respond Rate was only 78.8% i.e. 197 out of 250 since some of the respondents did not revert back Constraints

LITERATURE REVIEW
E Recruitment process starts by posting vacancies on the corporate website or an online recruitment vendors website, and allowing
applicants to send their resumes electronically though mail of e- form. One of the outcomes of growth of the recruitment technologies has been that
applying for job has become easier and streamlined. E-recruitment through vendors has emerged as a handy and advantageous over traditional
methods of recruitment. This domain provides a simple, fast and consistent method for HRM community to communicate the exact details to the
required personnel. In Asia e-recruitment, significance has also been accepted and developing countries of Asia are adopting the e recruitment
process at steady pace. Executives of Malaysia believe that e-recruitment can lead them to a new competitive position in new regional market
(Poorangi al 2011; Ahmed, 2009).The following reasons which include; lower cost investment, shorter recruitment cycle, reach to wide range of
applicants are described as strong sides of the Internet Recruitment ( Galanki, 2002; khan, 2010). Some relevant researchers also found out that
Salary level influences the applicants decision to apply for a position (Barber& Roehling, 1993) Advertisement and its attributes are important
factors in e-recruitment through online recruitment vendors as pointed out Buda (2003). Study also include providing detailed information about
posted jobs (Zusmanand Landis, 2002) also played an important part in to urge the applicant to use the website. The review of the above literature
provide an indication that e-recruitment through vendors website is acknowledged as being an important aspect of candidates job searching.
Moreover, e-recruitment is becoming more effective recruitment tools creating an avenue to build relationships between job seekers and organization
(Mooney, 2002)

DATA ANALYSIS & INTERPRETATION


The research instrument was questionnaire which consisted of both closed ended questions and open ended questions. The questions framed were
direct, simple, less time consuming. The questions were structured in such a format so that it was easy to comprehend, analyze and interpret and so
that it helps in achieving the desired objectives.

Chart Description:

This chart depicts that out of the 197 respondents interviewed, 6% of the respondents interviewed were pursuing their Intermediate, 68%
were perusing their Bachelors, and 15% were perusing their Masters. & remaining 11% were pursuing their degree which was higher in qualification
than Masters.

Internal Consistency measured Using Cronbachs Alpha Test

RESULT
Cronbachs Alpha is 0.734, which indicates a moderately high level ofinternal consistency is there.

Findings -
1) Out of 197 respondents surveyed, 149 respondents i.e. 76% of the people preferred online recruitment vendors portal as a preferred medium for
finding jobs.
2) Out of the 149 respondents, 114, i.e. 77% of the respondents are perusing their Bachelors degree who preferred online rec

as a medium to find jobs.
3)Out of the 149 respondents, i.e. 44.2% of the respondents who wanted a job in BFSI sector (Banking,
Banking, Financial Services & Insurance) preferred
online recruitment vendors portal as a medium to find jobs.
4) Out of the 149 respondents,
ndents, 81 i.e. 54.3%of the respondents who expected salary in the range of Rs (25000-40000)

Conclusions -
1. Majority of the respondents preferred online recruitment vendors portal as a medium to seek job.
2. Among the educational qualification category, respondents pursuing the Bachelors degree preferred online vendor portal mode as medium to
seek job.3. Among the salary expected category,
