Introduction
We were thinking about an idea because we needed to research something about motivation. First
we thought of Guus his dog. But then we thought about homework and Jeffrey had a great idea. Why
dont we research about motivation and homework? So our research question became: how are the
people off class G2B motivated for homework? Are they even motivated? And what is the difference
between boys and girls? Our hypothesis was: we think girls are more liking homework and that
because they understand the reason of making it better.

Literature research
The data of an experiment some people did clearly shows that there are differences in how much
boys and girls are motivated. Girls are in numbers much higher in learning focus, planning, study
management while boys are much higher in self-sabotage or self-handicapping. Whats interesting is
that girls are also much higher in anxiety. However, It is concluded that although girls have higher
levels of motivation than boys on a number of dimensions, the two groups' fundamental motivation
orientations do not appear to be mark able qualitatively different. But what motivates both genders
in general? Liking to do it? Probably not. In general, we dont first like something and therefore do
mathematics. Its really just the opposite: We come to love mathematics when we get good at it.
What will really motivate to do something? Someone who gives you treats for it? Only when the
treats keep coming and you like them. Then you are just motivated to get the treat. Our real
motivations come from our identification with a system of values. Our deepest motivations develop
slowly over time through the thousands of interactions we have with the people that are important
in our lives. We just want to become something and therefore do things. What you want to become
is a powerful motivating factor. Then there are 3 ways parents try to motivate children:
Power Assertion: Parents use their power to get them to do something. They can just punish
children.
Love Withdrawal: Children want their parents to love them. For example I dont like you when you
dont do your homework.
Value Induction: Value induction means that the parents explain the reasons why they can or cant
do things and when parents explain, children understand and therefore do the right thing.
Research
Research design
The first we did was making a questionnaire on word. Then
we handed it out to everybody in our class. We collected the
results and then we put it in a graph. Then we write this and
we made the poster. Guus learned everything to explain
questions from other people.

Results
In the graphs (next page) you can see that most of the
children think homework is useless and some children make
it because they know they can learn from it. Like you see our
hypothesis is wrong because more girls think homework is
useless.

Conclusion
When we had more people we could have better result. But
this result is good for teachers who want to make homework
fun and children who enjoy homework. We also could added
more questions to the questionnaire. Then the results would
be better. We also saw that our hypothesis was wrong.
