Projects: (1) Title: Comparison between SPI Protocol and IIC Protocol
My Research Project based on Comparison between Serial Peripheral
Interface (SPI) Protocol and Inter Integrated Circuit (I2C, IIC or I2C)
Protocol. These two are Embedded system Protocol. SPI is a general
purpose synchronous serial interface. During an SPI transfer, transmit and
receive data is simultaneously shifted out and in serially. A serial clock
line synchronizes the shifting and sampling of the information on two
serial data lines. The SPI is mainly used to allow a microcontroller to
communicate with peripheral devices such as E2PROMs. SPI requires
more effort and more hardware resources than I2C when more than one
slave is involved. But SPI tends to be simpler and more efficient than
I2C in point-to-point (single master, single slave) applications for the very
same reason; the lack of device addressing means less overhead. SPI is a
full duplex serial interfaces. It can handle multiple masters and slaves
being connected to a given bus. For this project I have to choose ARM7
Processor and LPC 2368 Philips kit.

(2) Title: Controller Area Network (CAN)

My project based on the Controller Area Network (CAN).
Controller Area Network (CAN) is the definition of a high performance
communication protocol for serial data communication. The CAN
Controller is designed to provide a full implementation of the CAN-
Protocol according to the CAN Specification. Microcontrollers with this
on-chip CAN controller are used to build powerful local networks by
supporting distributed real-time control with a very high level of security.
The applications are automotive, industrial environments, and high speed
networks as well as low cost multiplex wiring. The result is a strongly
reduced wiring harness and enhanced diagnostic and supervisory
capabilities.

(3) Title: Temperature measurement using LM35 sensor

The LM35 series are precision integrated-circuit temperature
sensors, whose output voltage is linearly proportional to the Celsius
(Centigrade) temperature. The LM35 thus has an advantage over linear
temperature sensors calibrated in Kelvin, as the user is not required to
subtract a large constant voltage from its output to obtain convenient
Centigrade scaling.

(4) Title: Ultrasonic Range Finder Using PIC 16f84 Controller

The ultrasonic detector is a sensitive stand-alone device for detecting the
distance of the object. However, this device makes us of sound of very
high frequency, higher than that detectable by human ear. We call it
ultrasound. This has the advantage that the person is unaware that the
device is operating in the room. The circuit is designed to emit this
ultrasound waves toward the object and detect the reflected echo, for that
distant measurement we use V = (D/T) concept. Where v= velocity,
T=reflected wave detection time, D=distance.

(5) Title: UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter)

The Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART) is a popular
and widely-used device for data communication in the field of
telecommunication. some of them contain FIFOs for the
receiver/transmitter data buffering and some of them have the 9 Data bits
mode (Start bit + 9 Data bits + Parity + Stop bits). This UART reference
design contains a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver performs serial-
to-parallel conversion on the asynchronous data frame received from the
serial data input SIN. The transmitter performs parallel-to-serial conversion
on the 8-bit data received from the CPU. In order to synchronize the
asynchronous serial data and to insure the data integrity, Start, Parity and
Stop bits are added to the serial data.

(6) Title: Digital clock with integrated alarm

(7) Title: stepper motor
(8) Title: Lcd display
(9) Title: Led display

I have also guided to the students in various projects. I know about the ARM
Processor, LPC (low power consumption) kit and related its application.
