Warm up (5 minutes)
1. Teacher will greet the students in Arabic. Teacher will teach students how to say hello in
Arabic
2. Teacher will review how to say How are you and how to respond Fine/good
3. Teacher will say Hello, how are you? to each individual student and wait until they each
answer back with good/fine. Repeat twice.
1. Teacher will introduce the topic in English. Today we are going to learn about buying clothes,
first we are going to review how to say clothing articles in Arabic
2. Teacher will review each item and ask the students to repeat each word after him/her 3 times.
a. Vocab words: Shirt, Pants, Shoes, Hat, Skirt, Dress, Coat, Boots
3. Teacher will then review the articles of clothing using a picture of a Boy and Girl. Teacher will
point to a piece of clothing and ask what it is in arabic. May elicit answers individually or as a
class. Repeat twice.
4. Teacher will then review colors. Teacher will say the color names in Arabic and students will
repeat 3 times.
a. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink, Brown, Black, White
5. Teacher will ask what each students favorite color is, they must answer in Arabic.
6. Teacher will teach students the questions What is this, What color is this in Arabic, so that
they know how to respond to the question when the teacher asks it. (do not teach them how to
say it, only how to respond)
Activity 2 (15min)
1. Teacher will hand out Blank pieces of paper and crayons/color pencils/markers
2. Teacher will give directions for activity:
Arabic for kids
Topic: Buying clothes
Week 1
a. Instructions: Each student will draw a person with clothes on and label them in Arabic
(translation, not Arabic script). Students will color the clothes in the colors they just
learned.
3. Teacher will have the presentation still up to assist students in spelling and labeling. Teachers
assistants will walk around and assist the children with spelling and labeling.
4. After each student is finished, Each student will stand in front of the class and the teacher will
ask what an item is or what color it is. Ask 3 questions about each picture i.e. what is this
(pointing to a skirt) what color is his/her pants to elicit a response from the students.
Activity 5:
1. For the remaining minutes of class, go over the presentation again and ask the students
what each picture is. Go over the colors again.
