Objective:

In my report I have studied aerospace, electrical and manufacturing sector of India and choose
electric/electronic sector for preparing the report. The report is on Arrow Aviation Services
Private Limited (AASPL) for aircraft maintenance. Keltron Component Complex Ltd for
electronic component manufacturing company. And EDF Energy for Electricity producer. I have
tried to provide information as much as can be gathered. I hope my information serves the purpose
of the report.
1st company
Arrow Aviation Services Private Limited (AASPL)
All engineering companies must operate as commercial enterprise in order to survive. Arrow
Aviation Services Private Limited (AASPL): AASPLs was founded in 2001 with the objective of
supporting the Aviation Industry with 'Efficiency', 'Expertise' and 'Exceptional Customer Service'.
Since its inception it has grown fast and steady to become one of the leading distributor of Aircraft
Spare Parts, Lubricants, Ground Support equipments etc in Asia. Arrow Aviation Services Pvt.
Ltd has a central facility in Kolkata, India, and regional sales offices at Delhi & Mumbai with an
efficient distribution infrastructure that could leverage a multitude of shipping options.
Arrow Aviation Services Pvt. Ltd. is a leading aircraft parts company in the Indian subcontinent.
Founded in 2001 Arrow Aviation Services has rapidly grown to become an Industry leader in the
supply of aircrafts spares and chemicals. AASPL have developed innovative solutions for our
customers to be the largest distributors of new and overhauled aircraft equipments. Arrow
Aviation serves a premier customer base that includes Corporate Houses/ Operators / MROs and
Airlines by delivering well-defined, value added solutions.
Arrow Aviation Services Pvt. Ltd. operates through its 3 offices located in India. It's Head Office is
located in Kolkata, Regional Sales offices in New Delhi and Mumbai.
AASPL also have an approved Propeller overhauling workshop in Kolkata.
AASPL are the sole distributors of DAVID CLARK INC. for aviation headsets in India
Subcontinent. AASPL work with manufacturers/ Distributors around the world to support our
customers by providing best solutions in normal as well as AOG situations.
AASPL have professionals with vast experience in selling Avionics Instruments, Airframes,
Rotables, and accessories, Specialty Chemicals and lubricants for all types of Aircrafts and
Helicopters. By understanding the need of the hour Arrow offers cost-effective and time saving

alternate solutions, such as exchanges, loans or rentals, AASPL have also come up with different
programs to suit the requirements of our clients through our principals.
Another very important aspect is Logistics, A dedicated team works round the clock to ensure
prompt deliveries of critical parts anywhere in the world. Experience in all aspects of spares
sourcing and delivery, combined with a comprehensive knowledge of all customs and hazardous
goods regulations enables us to provide the very best service to our customers.

Ground handling:
AASPL Ground handling currently provides passenger and ramp handling at over 100 stations worldwide
and serves 80 million passengers per year.
Cargo handling:
SCS is the worlds largest dedicated air cargo ground services company. Complementing AASPLs
global one-stop shopping strategy, SCS adds acceptance and delivery, document handling, build and
break-down, transfer, bypass and trucking expertise to the organizations portfolio of traditional ground
handling services. SCS is currently serving around 70 stations worldwide, handling about 3,2 million
metric tons of cargo per year for over 250 customers.
Fuelling service:
AASPL Fuelling has been providing into-plane fuel service as well as maintenance and operation of

major commercial jet fuel systems and Fixed Based Operator (FBO) fuel systems for over 30 years.
Significant experience in jet fuel system design/construction oversight, and pipeline operations both on
and off airport. AASPL also provides Ground Support Equipment (GSE) maintenance and refueling.
Executive Aviation:
AASPL Executive Aviation (SEA) & Private Port provide upscale ground handling services to the
international community of operators and executives who rely on corporate or private jets at close to 50
stations in Algeria, Argentina, Bulgaria, Brazil, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Greece,
Israel, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, Ukrainian, Singapore, Philippines and UK, and a five-star
personalized service for passengers and crew.
Aircraft Maintenance:
AASPL Aircraft Maintenance (AASPL): AASPLs line maintenance organization operates at 21 airports
in and 4 locations outside the UK. In 2006 more locations were certified by the EASA as repair stations
in accordance with FAR 145 and numerous awards received from the EASA by the organization and its
employees confirm the high level of commitment to and delivery of quality services.
GSE and ULD Maintenance:
GSE (ground support equipment) Maintenance and ULD (unit load device) are other specialties of
AASPL. This unit operates at over 20 airports in five countries around the world. It manages and
maintains a ground support equipment fleet of more than 5000 units worldwide. In 2005, AASPL
received its FOCA and subsequently FAA certification for the newly established ULD maintenance and
repair base at JFK Airport. For 2006 they will continue to roll out
stations around the world.
Aviation Security Services:
Security Services within AASPL International trading as AASPL Aviation Security or Check port brings
to the market a rich repository of proven skills that allows carriers and port authorities to tailor security
services to their specific requirements. With this dual brand strategy, AASPL/ Check port is extremely
flexible to react on local legal and customer requirements as well as on preferences (e.g. license,
neutrality).The spectrum begins with one service such as travel document verification or aircraft
security and extends across freely configurable service clusters to the total package that integrates
ground handling and security services complementing .

Organization types: This is a large international Ltd company. AASPL International Ltd., which is
owned by Ferro vial, a leading European infrastructure and service corporation based in Spain, provides
ground services for over 60 million passengers and 3.2 million tonnes of cargo a year on behalf of some
600 client companies. With its workforce of around 25 000 personnel, AASPL is active at 170 airports
in 40 countries on five continents, and generated consolidated operating revenue of CHF 1.9 billion
(pound 1 266 million or USD 1 583 million) last year.

Keltron Component Complex Ltd (KCCL)
Company overview:
Keltron Component Complex Ltd (KCCL) is a sister concern of R.B group. Its manufacturing
electronic goods in India for decades. It was established in 1977. The brand KCCL was developed in
2000. KCCL is a pioneer brand in manufacturing refrigerators, Ac, motorcycle, etc.

Organizational types:
KCCL is sister concern of R.B Group it is privately own group of company. KCCL one of the largest
electronics manufacturing company in India. It is a limited liability company. From functional

prospective the organization can be classified as big manufacturing company.
Sector:
KCCL Leader Company in India electronics market. The main purpose of the company is delivering
quality electronic products to customer. So KCCL is operating and contributing the secondary sector of
India.

Operation:
The main operation of the company is manufacturing Television, Refrigerator, Air conditioner, Cooking
oven, Freezer, Microwave-ovens, Home and industrial generator, Manganese and Alkaline Battery,
various types of home appliance etc. The total production process of KCCL can mainly subdivide in 5
production line.
Raw material processing.
Electronic parts assembly.
Exterior processing.
Automotive assembly.

The total production operation of KCCL is 2 types.

Automotive appliance production.
The manufacturing plant of KCCL is a fully functional and completely operational plant. KCCL only
imports integrated circuit and microchip processor from vendors. The other necessary spare parts and
chip sets are locally manufactured in KCCL.

Information flow:
KCCL has approximately 1500 employees including hand flow of technicians engineers, operation
managers, skilled labor and a very well managed board of directors. KCCL has strategic department that
coordinates and integrates different functions between HRM, marketing, finance and operations
department. The company uses both downward and upward information flow to maintain smooth and
efficient business run. The HRM department and managers tries to use informal communication too to
keep things on track.

The KCCL management structure is made with both hierarchical and flat matrix strategy. The marketing
department uses push and pull strategy for marketing. KCCL also has a separate fully functional MIS
(management information system) that allows the company operate, manage and decision making quickly
& efficiently. The MIS department and its application users both management and operation information
support.

Information flow evaluation:


The MIS (management information system) departments directly and indirectly control and support the
information flow system. The MIS department of KCCL is very effective, efficient and handful. From
order placement to production schedule, inventory planning, economic order quantity. Placement,
inventory tracing everything is done by the MIS department of Walton HIL. So from engineering function
prospect it can be said that the information flow structure and system is quiet effective and provides:
enough scope for efficient operation management.
As the company uses a combined system of both hierarchical and flat structure. It creates a much more
efficient information flow and makes the whole operation of KCCL very time and resource efficient and
decisions are made much more quickly. This creates a win-win situation for customer, whole seller and
company. For this efficient information flow the company can meet customer satisfaction more easily.
Both customer and company its self gets benefited heavily by the information flow system.

How information flow could enhance the functional activities of an engineering company

Engineering functions: It comprised with research and development (R&D), design, manufacture,
materials supply and control, production planning and control, installation, commissioning,
maintenance, technical support, technical sales, project planning
And management, quality assurance

Information flow: internal systems e.g. lines of communication, working procedures; people
involved e.g. supervisor, other employees, customers, suppliers; types of information eg work
instructions (such as operation sheets, engineering drawings, circuit diagrams), work in progress
records, stock/orders/sales; work ethics of communication eg confidentiality, integrity and

Improvements in information flow could enhance the functional activities of an engineering

EDF Energy
Company Overview:
EDF energy is one of the biggest electricity producer companies in UK. The company is a sister
concern of EDF group. The company is wholly subsidiaries of EDF group. The company was
established in 2002 by margin three big electricity company SFE board, London energy and
SWEB. The company produces approximately 1/5 of the UKs total electricity. EDF energy is
emerging as UKs one of the biggest electricity producing and distributor giant.

Sector:
EDF energy Ltd use to provide electricity. It has home, office, industries, agriculture lacking up
facilities with electricity system. So it can be said EDF operating both in primary and secondary
sector.
Organizational types:
EDF energy is sister concern of EDF Group it is privately own group of company. EDF group one
of the largest electricity producing company in UK. It is a limited liability company. From
functional prospective the organization can be classified as big manufacturing company.

Engineering function:
The EDF energy operates in primary sector as it produces energy. There has different energy plant
including.
Nuclear power plant.
Cole power plant.
Gas generator power plant.
Geothermal energy plant.
Hydrofoil electricity plant.
Renewable energy plant etc.
The company has a huge power station and power plant chain all over UK. The company has both
privately supplier and national greed supplier. EDF energy has approximately 35 hundred

employees. The company mainly merge different power plant and combined produces electricity.
The company has done a joint venture with BE (British electricity) for more efficient and
sustainable energy production. The company has three major plant Gas fired, Cole and nuclear
reaction plant. There also uses renewable energy resources such as wind, solar, tidal, wave. The
gas fired plant uses combined cycle gas tunnel. The company is capable of producing 4.8 GW
electricity.
