Why Students And Schools Fail?

The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.

Intelligence plus character- that is the goal of true education, said Martin Luther King.

Education plays an important role in todays society. The growing economy relies on

education to create a better nation, and to help people to achieve their dreams.

The undeniable question still lingers, why does the educational system and students fail?

In a world of growing educational needs, lack of proper education can possibly be self-

destructive. Parents likewise teachers are expected to be solicitous, and also, an investment in

education will secure a brighter future for one and all. Under those circumstances, One way to

improve the collegiate educational experience to help students gain more critical thinking skills,

is to alleviate the banking concept of education.

To begin with, poor education contributes to direful situations, and poor schooling aids in

self-inflicted ignorance and damage ones reputation. No one should suffer as a result of a lack

of a proper education. Also, the foundation of a good education is axiomatic, and schooling

should prestigious. Education is priceless and therefore all schools should implement a polymath

foundation. The education system should be a house of vaticination. The hopeless become

hopeful and the lost are found. In that case, the mirroring teaching concept does no good to either

teachers or students. The mirroring concept also denies the ability to develop critical thinking

process.

Why do students and school fail and how can the educational experience be improved for

college students? To illustrate, let one start by saying that, lack of education causes bad situation.

In the article, Ten Reason the U.S education system is failing; author Matthew Lynch, talks

about young black men who do not earn a diploma and why they are more susceptible to go to

prison. This shows how important an education is. Thats not to say that educated people do not

go to prison. That is beside the point. A person who is uneducated analyzes situations differently

from someone who is educated.

Then, the article lamented on foreseeing problems that contribute to failing students and

schools in America, I found this disturbing that parents do not partake with their children

schoolwork. The article states Parents are not involved enough. Let me elaborate on this, the

situation is different for every parents. Some parents have their hands full. My neighbor is an

example in this case; she has four children that are going to school. She lacks the quality time to

spend with her children, and also struggle to facilitate their necessities. My question is, what do

parents do in a situation like this? Yet, their priority is to provide for their children, which means

working two or three jobs to stay alive.

My answer to this is to educate young adults by implementing educational programs that

will educate young adults. For example, create an YGPTBE program, You Get Paid to Be

Educate. This program would assist many under-grads and open doors for people to further their

studies, so that young people can find better paying jobs and also, spend more time with their

children. This program would be a two-for-one specialty. Parents get paid and an education.

Also, it would help to decrease high rate of uneducated people in America. Remember,

everything is a chain reaction, one thing affect the other.

As the article states, while eighty percent of high school senior received a diploma, less

than half of those are able to proficiently read or complete a math problem. This is where the

problem started, the vacuousness of educational system, the anachronistic teaching, and the

banking concept, teaching. The banking concept of education, education thus becomes an

act of depositing, in which the students are the depositories and teacher is the depositor, instead

of communication the teacher issue communiques and makes deposits. This shows that teachers

rely on textbook to teach and students copy and paste everything that was taught. If students

have been spoon fed all their schooling life it is difficult for students to feed themselves.

Unfortunately, this is this banking concept of education. The teachers create saquacious

students in their method of teaching, and it continues through their adulthood life. However,

teachers need to interact more with students, and not to be a dictator in the classroom. On the

other hand, a solid foundation as to be set, teachers would illustrate the work in whatever subject

area, and allow students to participate more in class. I am not saying teachers should present

themselves in the classroom and do not illustrate the school work or to guide students. Take me

for example, I was taught the banking concept, where I depend on teacher to think for me. It is

like coping and pasting information, and when a task was given to me, I am befuddled.

To force a child to eat, when a child is full is like forcing students to think when they are only,

depositories.

Well, besides some of the negatives that contribute to the daunting educational future, I

will state my suggestions. Instead, create a classroom, name, Thinking Is Fun. This will allow

students to think about the article that is present. The class should be two to three days a week

and it should be mandatory. The word Think would play a psychological role. Also, retrain

teachers and analyze teachers, teaching skill. Implement more problem and solution practice,

will help. Introduce trips more often to students, by taking them on field trips and exposing them

to the atmosphere, and assign tedious task will ignite critical thinking. These are some ways I

would put forward to help students to become thinkers.

Finally, as many tackle the steamy topic, remember, Education is the key to success,

and no one should be denied of a good education. Proper infrastructure must be implemented to

bring better results in the educational system. From K-12 to college all schools should be

important. Importantly, all must be involved, student, parents, and teachers. If everyone gets the

right to a good education, prison house will be empty. Parents would able to assist their children

with schoolwork. Also, retrain teachers; this will get rid of the outdated teaching, and by giving

student problem and solution task and to do more outdoor teaching. It would be rewarding when

education is priorities, and not parsimonious towards a brighter future.
