Language Analysis

- We recognize that not all relevant signals contributing to prehensile activity were

captured from a few surface electrodes - deeper muscles may not be adequately

represented. [1]

- We selected an appropriate set of functional prehensile patterns likely to be useful in

informing clinicians about which muscles and hand/wrist movements associate with

these activities. [1]

The above quoted sentences from the article Improving the recognition of grips

and movements of the hand using myoelectric signals are mentioned in the

discussion and conclusions and all of them start with the pronoun we. In fact, we

pronoun was used eight times and all of them are in the discussion and conclusion

only. Indeed, the use of the plural pronoun is logical in this article because it was

written by multiple authors. Notice that in certain Engineering hard science areas,

writers possibly will choose we to give the collaborative environment of research in

these fields [2]. In CS major most research most been applied as a real project to

prove the written theory thus, the term this paper is less used compare to other

majors.

- without disability of any kind, [1]

- without considering any time sequence dependencies among them. [1]

The above quoted sentences from the article shows the usage of negative

forms. Swales and Feak stated, Various writers favor some negative types over

others, considering that the use of no is more formal than the use of not..any

[2]. Apparently, the usage of negative forms in this article is less formal however,
as mentioned above computer science is hard science field and most of the

research must been applied and tested. CS scholars realize that projects in their

fields consists of two parts, theoretical and practical thus, they did not spend

much more time on their papers compare to students in other fields which effects

the quality of their papers.

- ADLs are necessary personal functional activities, typically self-care, mobility,

feeding, etc. [1]

- Segment one, for example, includes the words in the first repetition of the hammer

action group (HG, HR, HGR, and HL), followed by the tip pinch group (TPG, TPR,

and TPL), then3-jawchuck (3JCG,3JCR, and 3JCL), etc. [1]

The above quoted sentences from the article shows the usage of vague

expression. These expressions could occasionally be used, but remember that they

are imprecise force readers to fill in absent information [2]. CS majors filled

with huge number of concepts and CS research analyze big amount of information

that is why the usage of vague expression etc is common but in the same time it

is weaken the paper. CS majors use the IEEE citation method which is similar to

the vague expressions because the cited resource is not mentioned in the text and

the reader have to search the paper to find information about the cited resources.

CS documents is less formal but in the same time it is dense.

- This is both clinically useful and opens the way for an approach to help simulate

hand functional activities. [1]

The above quoted sentences from the article shows the usage of adverb

which placed in the initial not in the middle of the sentence making it less formal
but in the same it draws the readers attention to the sentence because CS field is

rich with different devices and applications with multifunctional tasks.
