Proposal Paper

The main idea of my proposal paper is going through the history of the Egyptian Gods

and how they originated because in the society we have today we have some things

that were influenced by this patheon in some way in most modern religions that exist

today.

The Egyptian Gods represent at least 50 separate deities most of them date back to a

time before their was a dynasty in Egypt most of these Gods came from the tribes that

inhabited the region all having one that they mainly followed and once all the tribes

joined together to form the ancient Egypt that we know today that's when all the deities

came together. Some of the most well known Gods and Goddesses from the Egyptian

Pantheon are Ra, Anubis, Hathor, Geb, and Osiris. Each of these Gods played a huge

role in the Pantheon Ra was the sun God even though he did not move the sun that

was Khepri's job Anubis was God of the afterlife and being that the afterlife was such a

huge part of Egyptian society you can understand why he was such an important God

upon the weighing of the heart he was also there he ushered the dead to the afterlife

and he was at one point depicted as the protector of graves. Hathor was the Goddesses

that personified principles of joy, feminine love, and motherhood she was one of the

most popular of all the deities because she represents so much with human life. Geb is
the God of the Earth he is also said to be father of snakes it was said that is laughter

created earthquakes and he was the God that allowed crops to grow, he was also said

to have created the Earth by laying an egg. Anubis was God of the afterlife and being

that the afterlife was such a huge part of Egyptian society you can understand why he

was such an important God upon the weighing of the heart he was also there he

ushered the dead to the afterlife and he was at one point depicted as the protector of

graves. The lord of the underworld however was Osiris he was also the god of

resurrection and in Ancient Egypt you were technically resurrected in the afterlife so he

was a huge part of the culture.

The way these relate back the world we are in today is we have God in Judaism,

Catholicism,Christianity, etc he created the universe according to their religions God

created everything he created the Sun the Earth etc and since he created all this he

also created the afterlife much like in the weighing of the heart once you die you get

judged on whether or not you go to heaven or hell depending on what you did while you

lived their are also temples to pray to God or as theyre called in our society churches.

There are many other things that link the ancient Egyptians to the world we have today

these are just some small examples there are many more examples that can be used

linking ancient Egypt to todays society.
