 1. DRUG REHAB AND DETOX
INTRODUCTION:
Approximately 15.3 million people suffer from drug use disorders globally (World Health
Organization, 2013), and according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (2013),
the abuse of illicit psychoactive drugs results in approximately 200,000 deaths every year.
Predominant drug use across the globe :

Cannabis(marijuana)
Stimulants(atpm.)
Depressants
narcotics
hallucinogens

WHAT ARE DRUGS?

Drugs are substances that affect the physical and mental condition of persons significantly
and adversely any substance that can lead to addiction, misuse and dependence is a drug.
WHAT IS ADDICTION? Dependence upon a particular substance in order to function Thats
where addiction starts for everyone WHAT IS DE-ADDICTION? Any person who is
abnormally dependent on narcotic drugs Who is a drug addict? Is the psychiatric plus
allopathic treatment for helping an addicted patient to successfully come out of the addiction.

AIM
TO PROVIDE AN ARCHITECTURAL RESPONSE TO SOCIETYS HEALTH NEEDS
BY CREATING A DETOX FACILITY WHICH IS READY TO MOTIVATE , INSPIRE &
HELP DRUG ADDICTS IN THEIR BATTLE TO OVERCOME ADDICTION.

OBJECTIVES
CREATE A PLACE THAT CAN ENHANCE HOLISTIC TREATMENT FOR DRUG
ADDICTED PATIENTS.

CREATING A THERAPEUTIC ENVIRONMENT WHICH WILL BE DEVOID OF

INSTITUTIONAL OR PRISON MENTALITY

DESIGN CONSIDERATION
To create a link between the existing psychiatric hospitals & the proposed rehab centre for
drug addicts

SCOPE
The project entails the planning and design scheme of both inpatient and out patient drug de
addiction facility which comprises:
Patients accommodation

Therapy(All forms)

Recreational areas

Monitoring center(support facility)

DUE TO CREATICAL TRANSPORTATION HAVEAY STRUCTURAL MODUALE IS

DIFFICULT TO IMPORT.

INTRODUCTION

n,developmentandoperationofsuchapark.
Thereby,aCulturalThemeParkisanamusementparkwhichisthemedonaparticularculture,and
allitsrides,attractionsaswellasotherelementsofinterestarebasedonideasfromthatspecificculture.I
nthiscase,theculturereferstotheCultureofIndia,andalltherecreationalelementsusedaremeantto
beassociatedwhichthispluralisticculture.
ThisthesisprojectwouldproposeaThemePark,whichwoulddepicttheIndianCulture,itsrichnessan
dversatilityonalargescale.Itsarenaswouldbedistributedgeographically,sothatthepeoplewhobelo
ngtoIndiabutareeagertogetacquaintedwithitscultureaswellasthepeoplewhovisitthecountry,both
getaclearideaofwhatthecountryhastoofferandcorrelateitwellwiththeirownunderstanding.
Theparkwouldhaveachargeableentry,whichwouldincludethevisitingchargesbutnottheaccesstoc
ertainrecreationalelements,whicharenotcompulsoryorcommontoall.
ThesitealsoholdstheResidentialAreasforthestaffworkingthere,AdministrativeAreasaswellasaG
uestHouseforvisitorswhowishtostaylonger.

NEED
Duetolackofproperpromotionandglobaladvertisement,manypartsofIndia,whichareculturallyric
handworthgivingavisit,andthatdepictthevarietyintheIndianculturetoitsfullest,donotfallinthenoti
ceoftouristsandvisitors.
Keepingthisinmind,thebasicideahereistocreateaculturalthemepark,depictingthecultureofourco
untryatitsbest,highlightingthelow-promotionzonesandgiveanappreciabledefinitiontoIndia.

Theprimeobjectivebehindthecreationofthisparkwouldbetohighlightthelow-
promotionzonesofIndia.Inthisdesign,itisaimedtogenerateambiencesportrayingthevariedculture
s,consistingofrecreationalelementsforvisitorshavingvariedintereststhatwouldinclinethemtovisi

EastandCentral.Eachpavilionwouldhaveitsownoutdoorarena,andboththeseareaswouldconsisto
felementsofinterestandentertainment,whichwoulddepictacomponentofIndiancultureofthatarea.

SITE JUSTIFICATION
ThesiteofthisthemeparkhasbeentakeninKolkatabecauseofthefollowingreasons:
i)CentralIndiaalreadyhasafewsuchexamplesliketheKingdomofDreams,

Gurgaon,DilliHaat,Chokhidhani,etc.
ii)Kolkataisaculturallyrichmetropolitan.
