Reflection

When I moved here to the United States all I often heard is the government system is broken and

crooked. It didnt register with me not because I didnt care and I was not interested. My brother

often brought up conversations about the political world and I wanted to understand what he was

talking about, so I decided to take this class.

In the beginning we discussed about the System and Professor Gutaj pointed out other

countries compared to the US and how their system work. I pause for a minute and take it back

to what I heard when I moved here about the United States system. After lecturing us the way the

system works in the United States its became more understandable. A thought came to mind

about China which is a Communist country whos armed forces have the power and control the

country. Think of North Korea who runs on a dictatorship, but the founders of this great country

constructed a Constitution and Amendments giving all individuals a right to worship and join

any Religion that they would like. It is a civil right which is given to us citizens with no

infringement which I am grateful for.

I was debating whether I should continue to have my kids attend a public school due to my

personal perspective about it. Probably, I was focused more on the school isnt that good.

During our in-class discussion I learned that the government is who is providing the Public

school to everyone for an educational opportunity. Its giving so many families in the United

States an opportunity and it is more affordable for those children to get an education. This has

affected me in a way about how I view that specific thing which is amazing.

Towards the end of this Semester I was really amazed about the President and his role in the

country. The fact that he is a Chief of the States and one inspiring person to the country is a

serious responsibility. Veto is a power to stop a change, so it wont become a law. The President

need the Congress support and so to override a veto it needed a majority of vote. We may be knit

picking every little thing that is wrong about our Government System or the President, but we

should be recognize the freedom and greatness this country has compared to so many other

countries around the world.

I am so amazed with all Ive learned so far from this class and I know more now than in the

beginning and I can have a conversation with my brother. It makes me open minded about

political issues but respectful of others. Thank you Professor for all you do!
