TASK : MIDTERM REPORT

MIDTERM REPORT

INTRODUCTION

On 24 March 2017, I was assigned to do the midterm practical evaluation for the
subject advanced cinematography by Sir Abdullah Ali. I have been following a
predetermined time schedule. My time schedule is on 4.00-5.00 pm. So, this report was
written for the purpose of what I have done in midterm examination. The practical video I
have shoot followed what I have wrote in my midterm proposal. Both of my subject are
my classmates, Shafiqa Masreiyna and Ain Amira. I did not used any object in this

footage. In the video, I tried to bring a relatively simple concept. The aim is to

facilitate the understanding of the audience because of this video is silent

concept.

LOCATION
The location that I have choose is Bangunan Baru Aswara at 3 rd floor. The same place as
notified in the midterm proposal. The reason why I chose that location is because I think
that place is the most suitable to create a bit dramatic scene with silhouette element using
the glass wall. I chose that location also to save time for set up equipment and others.
TITLE : THE DESTINY
 This picture I have taken through my hand phone while practicing a few days before
sitting the midterm practical. During practice I was trying to create contrast and shape but
I failed to get contrast on that day midterm practical. Maybe that time Im really nervous
because this is my first time should to make a video practical exam using ex3 camera.

In the video, I made the various types of shot including close up, extreme close up,
wide shot, medium shot, low angle, long shot, over the shoulder and others to avoid the

boredom of the same shot used. I started my video by using a wide shot. My

video duration is around 1 minutes 11 seconds. My target video duration is

around 40 seconds something as I notified in my midterm proposal but it is

unexpected but it is okay because Im still not more than 90 seconds for

maximum duration.

Before started I have reviewed the situation zebra mode, the white balance is
either NG (not good) or G (good) and calibrate the camera. I did the zebra mode

is to avoid the overexposure and underexposure. I also did the white balance to

ensure that the output of the footage will come out the same as what I saw on the

camera.

To save time while doing the midterm practical already brief my actor in

blocking camera as you know because I did various type of shot. I practiced 3

times in actor blocking to make it easy and smooth the actor movement. For your

information one of my shot which is low angle was underexposed. To be honest,

I tried did the best as I can and I was put an effort by having practice.

Actually, We were allowed to use just pan and tilt movement. In term

lighting plot, I just stick to my plan as I notified in my midterm proposal. I was

trying to create silhouette and body shape, contrast, various types of shot, simple

story to facilitate the understanding of the audience because of this video has no

audio. Not all my shot came out as what I planned in my proposal.

NARRATION

The story was about a girl desperately reject a guy who truly love her. Even though
she can see his effort and sincere heart towards her, she rejects her because she feels that
she not worth it as she could not forgive herself that she broke a guys heart before who
sincerely love her. Then, the guy leave with a broken heart. One day, a woman appears
that help him to feel alive again and feel appreciated. That woman is no other than his
own best friend.

CONCLUSION
 I personally, satisfied with my midterm product even I did a bit mistakes but I gave
the best as I can. I am really relief to what I have done. Now I want start to think about
my final exam practical.
