GROUP RESEARCH PROJECT

Rationale:
For this assignment you are asked to write a 4-6 page research paper based on a topic or idea within your
novel. This assignment provides an opportunity for you to explore an area of interest in your novel in
greater depth. As a group, you will develop and hone your empirical question, do research on the topic,
read and make commentary on the research as it pertains to your novel. Together you will work on a
group topic an question to research. You will submit individual annotated bibliographies with a paragraph
description of your group topic. As a group, you will then write the final research paper
together. Although you will work on this project as a group, you will each be responsible for a portion of
the assignment. As a group, you will divide the work, and will submit one final paper at the end.

There are three components of this project:

1. Annotated Bibliography:

2. Final Paper:
The final paper must be 4-6 pages typed, in MLA format. All members of the group should be responsible
for a portion of the essay. How the work is divided is up to the group. You must have an introduction,
body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Your thesis must be stated in your Introduction.
3. Group Member Evaluations:
Peer reviews are an evaluation of what each group member contributed to the group
project. Evaluate your group members (including yourself) in terms of how much effort and
cooperation they put into the task.
