(2) The bolt edge distance for the beam web or the shear plate does not meet the design minimum requirement of the greater of 1.5 times the bolt diameter or 1% inches in the as-built condition. 6.2 Misalignment of the Holes A simple and cost effective method for field repair for misaligned holes is to field-weld the beam web to the shear plate. The weld should be capable of resisting a shear, Ro, eccenttic from the face of the support to the centroid of the weld group where Rois the shear yield capacity of the shear plate. However, this is only applicable for single plate shear connections that behave as at an ideal flexible support such that the beam end rotation is entirely accommodated by rotation of the support. An example of this would be a one-sided beam to beam connection where the ‘supporting beam does not possess a high degree of torsional rigidity from either the strength of the ‘support beam itself or from the conditions of its framing. Misaligned holes in other situations must be resolved by other means. Short-slotting holes that were fabricated with standard round holes in both plies would be one way to realign holes that are offset in the horizontal direction by only a small amount. Field-
