2. Write about a time you got fooled by an optical illusion in the world, either a serious
situation or not, extended or short. How did you get fooled and what made you realize
that it was an illusion or trick? What if anything did you learn from that experience?
a. A time I got fooled was when my friend made me answer a simple question with
the wrong answer. The secret behind the trick was that it tricked my brain into a
state of pattern recognition and when it came time to answer the question, without
thinking I answered the simple question incorrectly only to realise that I had been
fooled 3 seconds after. The trick itself is simple and is completed within 15
seconds but I realised it was an illusion when everyone around me started
laughing at me. From this experience I learned that I am really dependant on my
brain and that in most situations my brain takes action without my consent. This
whole situation made me realise that my brain can be easily tricked no matter how
confident I am. Now every time I am presented with a trick, I realise that I will
very well fail and I let my ego go.
