Abstract
Birth control is the first important step a woman must take toward the goal of her freedom. It is
the first step she must take to be man equal. It is the first step they must both take toward human
emancipation.- Margaret Sanger. Unplanned pregnancy has become an epidemic. Today one in
four children are born into families with a absent father. 10% of unwed women between the age
of 20-29 have an unplanned pregnancy. Sexual education is taught in schools but resources and
accessibility to birth control is scarce. Teen girls and young women have such a hard time
getting their hands on the medication. Many of these ladies dont even know they different types
of contraceptives there is and once in a doctors office its just too expensive to buy. Rather than
encourage a healthy happy sex life society shams woman for having intercourse; leaving the
prevention of pregnancy responsibility to the man. Unfortunately, that outcome of that has been
17.2 million unplanned pregnancies. The number of abortions done daily is also on a rise, as it is
the last and ultimate form of preventing a woman from having a child.
Running head: Encouraging a healthy sex life
Introduction
The same circle of life has occurred time and time again. Young lady gets pregnant, is
left by her partner to raise her child alone. That child then grows to be a teen and the story
repeats itself. Young, pregnant and alone. People have evolved so much. Better technology,
better education, better jobs, but this problem remains the same. Girls are taught to be successful
in school, with the career they decided but never get taught how to be sexual beings with
responsibility. The illusion of waiting until marriage to have sex is no more. Curiosity takes
over, feelings and emotions are involved and intercourse happens. The concept of having
protecting ready in case sex happens is not established. Promoting having different options of
conception is not ever talked about. 9 out of 10 times the female depends on the man to have a
condom and protect her from pregnancy. The problem with that is what happens when he doesnt
have a condom? Ladies need to learn not to be ashamed, but rather informed on how to take the
Different methods are available; a pill, a patch, shot, an implant, a IUD. Which is best for
the individual is a discussion between woman and doctor. Promoting safety is much more
important than abortions. The problem of getting any of these contractive is cost. In October
2017 President Trump placed a mandate on birth control coverage leaving more than 55 million
women without those benefits. Again, putting many at risk of unplanned pregnancy. Leaving
providing birth control to churches and nuns who want to help the public.

assistance with child care. Average annual daycare fee is estimated to be 7 thousand dollars, for a
low-income family it is sometimes too much. Leaving family and friends to help out that women.
College can be overwhelming with young children. With little time to study and homework it can
seem almost impossible to succeed in seeking higher education. To prevent all of these hardships
one must take all possible steps to prevent getting pregnant. Just how vaccines are giving to
There are both male and female forms of birth control, none that protect from sexually
Conclusion
Nothing is life is a guarantee and having a plan in order doesnt always work, but taking
the proper steps in preventing pregnancy is needed. Government should not dictate how a person
prevents pregnancy rather than making it so hard to receive contraceptives programs like
Planned Parenthood should be supported and funded more openly. The first step a woman must
take to reach her goal in life is to educate herself. To protect herself and too not depend on a man
to take responsibility. Engaging in sex must come with the idea of safety. Different methods to
accommodate everyones needs and encouraging youth to withhold reproducing children until
